Reddit isn't going to cave on this. It is pretty obvious from their communications that they hold users and especially mods in utter contempt, and they think they can manage this with little difficulty.

I personally don't use any of the 3rd party apps, so I don't know what others are going to be losing with the announced changes. My experience with similar situations have been eBay and YouTube shutting down apps that I did use, and they certainly never cared enough to reverse course, even when the changes significantly impacted revenues (eBay).

Reddit's investors will ultimately decide that. Reddit can claim that revenue hasn't been affected, but only because advertising is sold in blocks. Personally, I think we'll know by July if the strike worked or not.

Reddit will take action long before that, and the effect on revenues will be irrelevant by July because the damage will be irreversible.

I won't have mobile, and I hate New Reddit.

I thought I was long over his neoliberal ass, but he may have redeemed himself in my eyes. https://twitter.com/iamjohnoliver/status/1670179738348933120?s=46&t=zeeEpDxWHu0lMoQ6GbiaFw

Although....he may also have unintentionally ensured negative attention to that sub from reddit's overlords.

Nonetheless, you never know whom reddit posts may be influencing!

Although, unless the traffic levels go down, Reddit may not mind.

They just need those "directed ads" that people paid for to go where they paid for them to go.
Reddit may not care one whit what is around those ads, as long as they can get the money.
