Are they seriously expecting to get a lot of people who are going to download the official Reddit app because of this?

Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit can do as he see's fit. If shitforbrains don't like it then leave.

He still has shareholders, even if not yet public. He seems liable for some destruction of shareholder value IMHO.

I've not bothered with what's going on however when a CEO want's to make changs in a company all shareholders are present and or aware of changs. Shareholders are fully aware of changes and can voice there concerns, sofar the only ones bitching is the readers and no one else.

Again I'm not following this as it's not worth the time.

They need folks on the app with inline ads, not folks with browsers and an ad-blocker.

Maybe our owners security apparatus is just cleaning up their information spaces in the run-up to their selection contests next year.

Gotta keep their brand of demockracy safe from the ever growing contingent of people who understand that the only winners, are the owners of the two private political organizations their media advertises as the only viable options you have, to "elect" one of the candidates they've selected for you to Win! with.

I don't remember off hand who it was, but didn't some spook move into reddit management in the not too distant past? Reddit shitting all over their own house would only drive the undesirables away. All the trained and conditioned consumers of reddit product will continue living the dreams their moderators protect at their request.

When ordinary people come to their own conclusions about what they see, share those thoughts with others, and a consensus is reached that conflicts with what we're told to see, our owners get nervous. With the entire world outside the self appointed rules based international order collectively telling them to lick balls, our owners are very, very nervous about the state of their union right now...

If they actually go through with banning mobile browsers, they're either absolute idiots or they're intentionally destroying reddit
