Hi, so did wayofthebern completely disappear on Reddit? I don’t even see it listed as a private community and all my wayofthebern posts are gone?

I bookmarked a link WOTB on my toolbar long before it went private.

If I click on the bookmarked link, I see WOTB with a standard reddit notice that it is a private community a more custom message linking us to saidit. And that's all.

It's all still there, don't know why it isn't showing up as a private community.

It shows to me (redditrisi) as a private community. All my WOTB posts are invisible to me, though and I cannot access WOTB. Are only the mods "approved members" right now?

Basically, yes. We're still monitoring things there though there isn't anything really happening other than "join" requests. Some from members, most from suspiciously new accounts. We just use a canned reply about the API blackout with a link to bring them to this sub.

That's bizarre. I know you've mentioned that before and we've had a few other members (and even a couple of mods, if memory serves) complain of the same thing.

It's happened every time I think to check. I just refuse to take a hint. (-;

I should remember to check more often. Technically, reddit can ban me because I keep posting and voting in WOTB while (involuntarily) unsubscribed.

A suggestion for the next time it happens:

Make a short Reddit Post describing this effect that you have (just then) personally witnessed, and tell others how to quickly check to see if it has happened to them, and how to fix it. There may be hundreds out there, unknowing.

Relaying personal experience is better than saying "some person said this happened."

If I log into reddit as redditrisi (risi is "still me"), I see the OPs I've posted in WOTB, but no comments that I've posted in WOTB.'

On edit. No, I see nothing that I have posted in WOTB, neither the OPs nor the comments/replies. I see only what I posted in other subs.

As I said to someone else, that's just mean of Reddit.

Even if you are blocked from seeing anyone else's words, you should still be able to see your own.

As "author" of my posts, I own the copyright in whatever I write that is original with me (not something I quoted, for example), yes. Reddit gets to use whatever I post. It's in the reddit user agreement. Same is true for every board on which I've ever posted.

I was trying to archive some old memorable posts from our sidebar, which I still havee access to, but it just archived the "private" page.

Perhaps it’s because I’m not approved (even though I’m a member of the sub). Can you make me an approved member of the original sub so I can see the sub? I assume being approved allows me to see my comments and post there while it’s still private? Thanks.

it just archived the "private" page.

HAha.

There's a trick: the archiver has a Reddit account. Approve that specific account for viewing, and it should work.

The account name should be somewhere on the archived private page.

I really don't see a problem with it.

    While the community is set as private, it appears that rank-and-file members can't see their old comments and history.

    Damn. That's cold.

    You should still be able to see your own words, even if you are not allowed to see anyone else's.

      I'm guessing that IF r/WayoftheBern opens back up (we don't know how long this is actually gonna run) there's gonna be quite a bit of archiving going on.
