Left wing, meaning not supporting Russia's invasion of the Ukraine?

Communist Russia?

You, Socks, and that guy everyone always thinks is Socks share similar ideologies that run counter to most others here.

I personally distrust everything Ukraine says, I don't think they have a shred of credibility left.

And you think Russia is right-wing?

Is right-wing good?

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Hells no, although I think currently the right is preferable to what's become of liberalism. The left used to be the good guys, fought for people's rights and freedom of speech. They went wacko tho, built upon a shakey foundation of logic so that higher order concepts became an exercise in mental gymnastics devoid of logic.

Personally I'd prefer more viable political parties in the US, but we got the left which has been hijacked by "progressives," Marxists really, and the right that's been jacked by President Cheeto. The latter is the least bad option atm.

Do you think Russia is right-wing?

[–][deleted] 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I dunno, how would I be familiar with Russian politics.

Maybe you read something once?

I believe it when I see a video.

[–]ActuallyNot[S] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

I've seen videos of them shooting civilians.

[–][deleted] 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

I'll look for them. Out of curiosity, were you upset by the massive amount of civilian lives lost in the Afghanistan/ Iraq conflicts?

[–]ActuallyNot[S] 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah, I was.

Particularly Iraq. As Afghanistan dragged on, I followed it less closely. But I remember the excess mortality from Iraq being really high from the damage to the medical and sewerage infrastructure.

Communist Russia?

Please stop, Russia hasn't been communist since 1991.

Left wing, meaning not supporting Russia's invasion of the Ukraine?

There are people on the left who do not approve of the US role in that conflict (me included). Have a look at the left wing journalists at https://consortiumnews.com/ Being against US involvement in affairs like this used to be an Anti-War leftist position. Almost nobody is 'pro-invasion', but they might point out that when Russia stuck missile bases to close to our sphere of interest in Cuba, we almost started a nuclear war over it. You seem to be in denial about the role we played in this conflict.

Okay.

But they're not very far right. With their free healthcare and free education including your first university degree, if you choose to use the state system.

You just need the ability to count.

Count the number of wars US waged in the last 70 years.

Count the number of wars Russia waged in the last 70 years.

Compare those two numbers. Hopefully this then leads you some actual useful and more importantly sound conclusions.
