This is Maher’s typical play. He lets the early adopters of dissenting opinions take the slings and arrows and when there’s finally juuust enough groundswell of pushback, he finally speaks his mind and portrays himself as some sort of edgy contrarian. He’s a coward and a blowhard.

I think he was always thinking it, things are just finally moving to a place where they can be said out loud.

Most people like him didn't want to think it. They went out of their way to avoid thinking it.

Undoubtedly a lot of people in Hollyweird were probably thinking it, but waiting until (as you said) things have moved a place where they can be said out loud only demonstrates that their career matters more than anything else.

Yeah, no. Although those tv shows are crap, if when a teen girl is splattered in the face with a bit of mustard the first thing you think about is "sex", YOU are the creepy one.
