I've said before I think that it makes zero sense to allow kids to "socially transition" privately because the entire concept is just an oxymoron. Of course you can try to keep shit hidden from the parents by not telling them but that's always going to open up accusations of grooming and the actual sex predators will jump on that and take full advantage of it.

But regardless if you have the kid using their new name in class that means that everyone in that class knows about it, so it's public information, and those kids can either intentionally or unintentionally tell their parents about it, and those parents can alert the parents of the kid who has socially transitioned. It's literally stupid to think you can keep it a secret.

I've said before if I was a kid in this situation I'd just be approaching the kid that transitioned and blackmailing them. Hey you don't want your parents to know you changed your name right? That worth $5 to you for me to not let your parents know? Oh don't bother reporting me to admin anyway since if I get in trouble they'll have to tell my parents the reason why I got in trouble and they'll tell your parents anyway. I accept cash or PayPal, how would you like to make that payment? PayPal is easier to set up monthly payments with so you don't forget, what you thought this was a one time charge?

Oh hey Jane formerly known as Dick, I saw you pay off that kid over there to keep your identity a secret from your parents. I want to be paid too.

It's just a fucking disaster waiting to happen these policies.

I've never understood the logic that a child is 'safe' to come out to 1000 of his closest peers, teachers and school administrators, but God forbid anyone tell the parents.

Like, either you're out or you're not. The more people know the less of a secret it is

I don't think there is any logic behind it because if these people were thinking they'd not be making these stupid policies. I think you've just got a bunch of retarded policy makers making policies because they want to feel like they are doing something and they've screamed transphobia for so long they don't have anyone telling them they are retarded anymore.
