No sympathy. Plenty of chances for the LGB part to recognize they had won and to cash out and not be sore winners. But it wasn’t enough for them.

The problem is/was the leadership. Organizations like this have acquired a not-insignificant amount of power and influence and are (understandably) loathe to just give it up. To keep hold of all of that, and to justify doing so, they have to take on new struggles, new problems. If they can't find legitimate ones to tackle, they'll just go ahead and make their own.

After same-sex marriage, career activists faced a crisis. What shall we do now? Their answer was to latch onto all the gender stuff.
