While Watson is correct in her claim that lesbian spaces are declining in the UK – there are now only three permanent lesbian bars remaining across the country – experts have explained that the decline is mostly due to rising rents and the impact of Covid-19 on the economy, adding that being inclusive of trans and non-binary customers is “essential”.

Which experts exactly are giving advice on the economy but also need to emphasize how important letting MtFs into the lesbian bar is?

It's so sneaky how they do that, always having these so-called experts--who are almost never named or sourced--giving commentary on one thing, and tacking one some other thing at or near the end of the commentary. And that tacked-on bit is the bit that they want to emphasize, but they present it as coming from someone in a completely unrelated field to give it more weight; "oh yes, No-Name the Economist thinks such-and-such about the recent interest rate changes, and wants you to know that these interest rates negatively affect queer businesses, costing marginalized groups safe spaces to associate..."

The expert is probably some gross tranny.

or some ridiculous source like pinknews (almos all of their stories are pro-tranny)

“There are people in our community who won’t find that safety net in other venues, who aren’t comfortable in an non-LGBTQ+ environment, so I think it’s absolutely essential that we always have safe spaces,” Gary Henshaw, owner of the Ku Group, which includes She Soho, told PinkNews in 2023.

Further, a YouGov poll in August 2023 found that lesbians are the demographic most welcoming to trans and non-binary people, with 68 per cent of cisgender lesbians holding a “very positive” view of trans people, compared to 22 per cent of all British people.

Well you'd think one female-only venue would be okay then. Where's the gratitude?

Why do women who fail to secure relationships with men need a bar as a “safe space”? You can spot a lesbian on the street; just look for loafers, a bad haircut and the social skills of an abused worm.

the social skills of an abused worm.

I have the social skills of an abused worm, but my lesbianism has nothing to do with this particular defect of mine.

(I loled by the way).

Even queers hate trannies.

Idk about the UK, but is it legal to discriminate against anyone based on gender/orientation/race/religion? Not that I'd want to go hangout at a Lesbian bar as a straight guy (though I used to hang out at one that let me drink underage - great place, lot of fun there and I was treated sort of like a token, which I didn't mind), and wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable, but discrimination is discrimination and it's all bad, right? Or is some discrimination okay?

I think that it's fine to have a women's only, or even men's only bar frankly. But it is discrimination and I think you need to be pretty clear with that legally.

Otherwise what's to stop someone from being like "sorry this bar is for Mormons only" or something like that.

You can get around that by making it a members only private club. Not sure why anyone needs a segregated bar. I don't believe in this "safe space" crap. That's what's wrong with Western Civilization now - self-imposed segregation. What we do now, segregating everyone by race, gender, orientation, religion - does more to separate than unite. If someone is being an ahole, the club/bar has every right to kick them out. Why do we need to segregate them?

Because even if men are not behaving asholish enough to be kicked out, they can still be total creeps and upset/make lesbians feel uncomfortable. I mean I would like to not have a total creep updating his wank material library with the images of me kissing my girl.

So your assumption is that most men are creeps or potential trouble? That's incredibly sexist. Imagine if straight bars kicked out LGBT people just because they were part of a group they thought were "creeps."

[–]MyLongestJourney 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Most men that come in lesbian bars are creeps and potential trouble.

[–]UncleWillard56 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Innocent until proven guilty? Frankly, I don't understand why men would want to go in, unless they're just friends with the owner or patrons, or just trusted not to be creeps or trouble.

[–]MyLongestJourney 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Men want to go in because lesbians turn them on.

PS. The guilt is proven again and again and again.

I just hung out because a few of my friends hung out there. I don't feel guilty about it. There are men who are adult enough to handle women as friends without being a creep about it. Don't let the few tarnish the many.
