The opening line, accidentally no doubt, contains the main crux of the problem:

"in the modern world, I Fail to see any utility in it."

From the first time a boy picks up a stick and pretends to be a warrior to the birthing wards where a woman is going into labour, this person's failure will be screaming all around them, constantly tugging at them with a genetic rope so powerful that the act of pulling the opposite direction often leaves them depressed, angry, bitter and exhausted, cursing the world and blaming everyone for, in some way, trying to force them into something that they feel an instinctive compulsion towards.

That's not to say that some people don't always feel every single drive their gender typically does, but even most of those people are smart enough to notice that they don't feel a natural pull towards this or that activity. No matter if their grateful or dismayed by it, they know it.
