Why is it that the sane people end up quitting? Now they'll probably just replace them with gender cultists.

Because they recognize that trying to get a cap on this shit geyser is professional (and likely social) suicide. Better and safer to just fuck off and find a job somewhere else.

Because resignations draw attention (in addition to what u/LordoftheFlies said.

It looks like the rot is proving harder to eliminate in this field. I suppose we should be slightly grateful that there is some effort being made and hopeful that things will be under much more scrutiny in future.

I agree to some extent. But there comes a time when your only options are either blatant insubordination against policies you can't go along with in good faith, which in many circumstances they'll simply paint you as an insubordinate and dodge the entire question of the policies in the first place. (Rule says don't do X, they did X, so they broke the rule, very clear cut)

Or you quit and maintain your position as a good actor. I can't follow this rule so I will resign, sends a very strong message.

It's a shit situation to be in with no really good moves, but I've had to pull it before, if this rule is implemented I won't be able to follow it and will have to tender my resignation, it tends to turn heads, I don't think it's a move you want to make except out of last resort because it can be done too glibly, but, there are times when it is appropriate. In this case if you believe the organization is beyond fixing which let's be fair, it totally is it won't allow for alternative opinions to be aired without the people getting demonized, then all the competent people quitting essentially dooms the organization to failure and irrelevancy.

But, the problem is that you can still be painted as an insubordinate even if you tender your resignation over a rule you're implementing, and the people doing this have done it over and over. The wokesters live on "we didn't break the organization with these rules- these snowflakes just were offended by having to live in a world with equality, so they took their ball and went home because being evil is more important to this person than life."
