People with gender dysphoria literally do not feel like themselves, when you look in the mirror you don't see yourself and it can mentally traumatize a lot of people. Ask yourself when you last had such a moment happen in your life? Most people have no idea what it feels to be transgender because they have always felt like themselves.

When I look into a mirror I see a wrinkly greying old man, not the young virile man I used to see. But in my mind I'm still that young man. Is it traumatizing? Maybe a lil bit sometimes. But it's just the reality of the situation. If I didn't... if I obsessed over it... I'd probably go fucking insane getting plastic surgery and doing whatever it took to make my outer self match my inner self. And once I realized it's never going to happen, then yeah if I was obsessed enough I could see having suicidal thoughts.

But you see, that's the key: accept reality. All of us are expected to do that, except trannies for some fucking reason.

Nah, I see a 20 year old in the mirror. I just don't expect anyone else to.

Until the thread was locked, people were allowed to say that surgery is questionable but drugs should be allowed. Anyone who disputes the idea that drugs are harmless and reversible seems to be getting deleted.

The same people who claim that drugs are harmless and reversible also believe that drugs are necessary because the hormones that otherwise should be taking effect will have permanent effects that could make transition harder and less effective. The fact that the drugs are exactly the same as the natural hormones (just delivered differently), and thus have the same lasting effect, doesn't seem to register (or they willfully ignore that fact).

I've made the argument before that the hormones shouldn't be allowed because should the person wish to transition later the lack of development downstairs will result in insufficient tissue to perform a vaginoplasty as in the Jazz Jennings case. Makes their heads spin.

Way I see it is that there's so many people in the trans spaces with an all or nothing belief in early transition as the one and only answer when really the science on transition in general is still pretty fuzzy. It's not like psychiatric care is an exact science and I still find it odd that you'd treat gender dysphoria with medical interventions with no questions asked but other forms of body disphoria like self-amputees are discouraged.

I'm actually in favor of that one, but only if the amputations start at the neck before moving on.

I like the implication that not transitioning before puberty means you've missed your shot and wasted your life. Must make all the middle aged hons feel great about their choices.

Then again, it also implies the only "successful" transition is one, as Marci Bowers states, which leaves you with zero sexual function. Sort of a double edged, flaccid, non-functioning sword.

The problem are the ones who still have sexual function. Do we really want them procreating?

You should definitely have your kids taken away if you troon out, I know that much. Even without the obvious coincidence of pedo shit, just being around a child looking like that would fuck them up for life.

In other news, guns, driving, alcohol, weed, sex - still prohibited for minors (well, adults having sex with minors still is). It's insane that anyone would let children, especially pre-teen children, make a life-changing decision like that on a whim.
