I see this alot on YouTube and Reddit. The underlying issues that drove them to transition aren't dealt with when they de transition. Plus the lure of the supportive cult is hard to ignore especially after they've alienated everyone outside it.
I read Elliot Page's memoir recently and she talks about cutting out her dad, stepmom and apparently a lot of her friends, who had the nerve to tell her she looks 'adorable' and such. She explicitly claims she only gets her 'joy' from hanging out with her trans 'friends'. She's never getting out.
