It’s been a while since I played Unleashed, but isn’t it about Sonic turning into a werewolf and fighting a giant eldritch serpent that lives in the molten core of the planet?

How exactly do race and fatness tie into that?

I pick it up sometimes just for the nice scenery. You're right about the giant eldritch serpent thing, but to do that Sonic needs to travel around the world, which means he's going to meet different cultures. Sega didn't want to commit fully so they went with stand-ins that rely heavily on stereotypes. Chun-Nan and Mazuri are the most problematic according to tumblr. Maybe that's the racist thing today? I don't get it either. The fatness part could be from Empire City, which is New York and San Fran rolled into one. There's a fat NPC there that you have to interact with. It is anything but malicious and actually fun character design, in my opinion.

But this is the Sonic fandom, 'nuff said.

Sega had a near-perfect formula back in 1991 and had they just stayed the course Sonic could've kept pace with the greats like Mario. Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, CD were all great games. Unfortunately the franchise went into some really really stupid fucking directions and with every new game Sega just drove it further into the ground.

Not just Sega, though. The fans... holy shit, the Sonic "community" is the biggest bunch of the most autistic degenerate furry losers I think I've ever witnessed. On top of the damage Sega's done, I think the fans have probably done the most to ruin the franchise.
