Maybe if you're so fragile that an errant pronoun makes you kill yourself, then you probably wouldn't have survived long anyway, trans or not?
Maybe that kind of mental fragility is a You problem and not a society problem?
Maybe those kinds of hair-triggered suicidal tendencies would be best treated with extensive psychological therapy?
Just throwing some ideas out there.

This. And yet other laws and rules of professional conduct have, in some places, made it illegal or a lose-your-license offense for psychologists to pursue anything other than affirmation, hoping that that will prove to be a magic band-aid for all the other underlying psychological co-morbidities. This is shaping up to be the big medical scandal of the early 21st C.

Without a doubt this is going to be a scandal en par with the scandal of lobotomy - worse, in fact, as medical research ethics is considerably more advanced now and as far as I can tell the practitioners of every stage of “gender affirming care” have ignored best practices regarding record keeping, consent, research evidence and outcomes.

Transition used to be the treatment of last resort -- when nothing else worked -- because doctors knew that transition doesn't work that well. All that has now been thrown out the window.

This article in the BMJ is fascinating.
For example, a recent analysis of insurance claims found that nearly 18,000 US minors began taking puberty blockers or hormones from 2017 to 2021, the number rising each year. Meanwhile, the number of US private clinics focused on providing hormones and surgeries have grown from just a few a decade ago to more than 100 today.

Lots of fingers in the ears behaviour occurring.
