LOL WUTLionsgate hires Dylan Mulvaney to promote “Are you there God? It’s me Margaret” because who better to promote a film about a girl struggling with puberty and growing up than a man in a dress.

This might make more sense than you'd first think. Using a controversial personality to drum up a little publicity for a failed project is quite different from using him to promote the country's top-selling beer.

I'd never heard of this movie until I read about Dylan promoting it. Of course I'm still not planning to see it, but if 1% of people who read these stories end up watching it that's probably a marketing win. And it's already been out three weeks, so bad publicity can't hurt it much.
