Now they're coming for Transformers!

On top of the forced and awkward injection of gender ideology, there is a real safeguarding concern that the child was initially scared, but was suddenly shown to feel safe when the robot offered trans/NB pronouns.

Sorry I reacted that way, the world can be a scary place but I know I’m safe with my friends and other non-binary people.

Awful messaging for safeguarding...

Poor Optimus Prime! He doesn't need this shit.

Yeah, that’s some seriously bad safeguarding messaging for children. Ignoring everything about the non-binary shit, just having the girl talking to a stranger who she was initially frightened of seems to be telling children they should ignore their instincts about who to trust. Sorry if it’s not politically correct, but strangers dressed in funny costumes should frighten children and those children should be taught to run straight to an adult that they do trust and tell them everything they should definitely not be having late night conversations with stranger about their inner feelings and stating that they feel safe around other people who claim to share their inner feelings.

Fuck the groomers!

Oh and by “adult that they trust”, the general list is usually parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, adult siblings and cousins, uniformed police, teachers at your school, your family doctor, a nurse or doctor at the hospital. It’s a fairly long list with a heavy bias towards family and adults who are in caring or protecting roles. No where on the list is the danger-haired freak who insists that you use plural pronouns to refer to them when they aren’t even around and talks about being neither male nor female.

Edit: I realise that in the US/Canada “teacher at your school” and “danger-haired freak who insists on you using plural pronouns” may well be one and the same. I don’t know what the answer there is.

I'm not totally bothered with the idea of a non-gendered robot since it's a robot, I don't understand how someone can be a "she/they" though, what the fuck does that mean?

I'm still bothered by the non-binary idea, makes little sense, so you are neither a boy or a girl? What are you? I can understand if it means you don't want to beholden yourself to stereotypes, but I'm kind of bothered by the idea of putting so much value in stereotypes it dictates to you how to live your life rather than just doing what you want to do and not caring so much about whether it's "gendered" or not.

Like even in this clip it's stupid, you've got a clearly female character talking to a robot. They're both "non-binary" meaning what exactly? Fucking analog robot? Computers are inherently binary.

I’ve known kids, well little girls, who said that they were unicorns and little boys who claimed that they were spider-man. Neither of those claims are harmful to them as long as they didn’t try to stab people with their horns or swing from thread between buildings. Little kids claiming to be things as a way for them to explore their world, we forget that for anyone under about 12 years old the world is full of new experiences and seriously weird shit.

What we don’t do though is tell them that they are really unicorns or spider-man. And a child continuing to make those claims beyond a certain age would be a cause for concern and would warrant a discussion with a medical professional. What these groomers are doing is instilling the idea that, regardless of reality, a claim about oneself is one that deserves validation and other people have to humour you.

This is insane, it’s insane and it’s directed at young children who don’t know how to discern truth and falsity, real and unreal.

If I came to your house and told your six year old in a serious fashion, with diagrams and drawings, that under her bed lived an evil troll that wants to eat her face, you’d beat the shit out of me because that child would not be sleeping in her bed for months because she is not equipped to know that I’m lying.

The thing is the people making this shit know all of this and that’s why they’re doing it, the “groomer” moniker is thrown out a lot, but it really does apply to situations like this.

[–]LyingSpirit472 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

...but have you considered that if you don't tell them they are really a unicorn or Spider-Man, they might kill themselves? You don't want people to kill themselves, do you? They might go under their bed and let the evil troll under their bed eat their face to do it if you don't tell them they are really unicorns or Spider-Man, and indeed agree to commit crimes so Spider-Man can defeat you and ride away on the unicorn, and then you'll be sorry seeing a six year old with an eaten face!

[–]ClassroomPast6178 1 insightful - 5 fun1 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 5 fun -  (2 children)

Listen, it’s not the troll under your bed that’s important, it’s all the friends you have mysteriously lost during sleepovers along the way.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

I frankly don't see how you can live with yourself going off on trolls like that. Trolls are a marginalized community on the internet and are subject to all sorts of unfair behavior like name calling and banishment. How dare you!

Listen those disgusting troggots deserve all the opprobrium they receive, the filthy traedos should just go back to their bridges and leave decent folk alone, preferably permanently.

Nonbinary is, was, and always will be just an especially low-effort way for straight people to hitch a ride on the QWERTY people express.

Computers are inherently binary.

The Tron fandom has a non-binary computer program now. It's almost as if the writers who create these characters don't think about if it would make sense or not in-universe! The creators say it's "to allow the players to see themselves in these characters" which is complete BS because that character just looks like a blue dude. Pretty sure that's impossible to reach irl.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

I don't understand why they need television to see themselves, that's what mirrors are for.

[–]AlanOneWant some popcorn? 0 insightful - 4 fun0 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Mirrors trigger their dysphoria, apparently.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 1 insightful - 3 fun1 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Well if your reflection doesn't reflect your identity you might be distressed at the sight of reality. This is why we need to ban mirrors immediately otherwise the future for trans babies remains in jeopardy.

[–]LyingSpirit472 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Obviously because entertainment's no longer about watching other people do things, it's about promoting a delusion that YOU are the character, and you're having adventures with all your friends and these people totally like you and you're not a lonely pathetic loser.

[–]Q-Continuum-kin 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't understand how someone can be a "she/they" though, what the fuck does that mean?

People who want to claim trans identity without doing anything.

[–]bife_de_lomo[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Totally, there's a good reason to be suspicious of people we don't know, and a personality quirk is never proof of one's safety.

I remember my stranger danger lessons well. I wonder if they even teach that anymore in schools?

And LOL at your edit!

It's fucking retarded.

If you're even going to do this shit it should be "she/theirs".

This is Sally. She is gay. Her favorite color is rainbow.

This is Sally. She is gay. They favorite color is rainbow.

Totally bullshit crap English that is obviously grammatically incorrect.

Well, they're called TRANSformers, after all. It's quite fitting, actually lol

Though, I'm not sure why do Hasbro bother with such pandering, it's just hurting the brand. I don't think Tumblrinas buy or even care about Transformes at all.

[–]bife_de_lomo[S] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (8 children)

I wonder if it started with My Little Pony, it waswoke before lots of other properties.

They're taking a similar line with Dungeons & Dragons, much to my consternation.

[–]Clown_Chan 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (7 children)

Well, about D&D, I kind of understand that because plenty of LGBT people play it. I don't see a problem with that, D&D is for everyone, you like it or not. I'm afraid you'll have to just deal with that, lol

But Transformers.....that's a different thing. There's no need for any gender bullshit in a CHILDREN franchise. Who the fuck gives a damn about a pronouns of a fucking ROBOT, anyway? It's a robot, it doesn't even have a gentials in the first place.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (6 children)

The problem with the woke in a role playing game is they are the antithesis of fun. I don't really give a fuck if you've got gay orcs or whatever, it does pose a problem when you've got some braindead tumblrite demanding that they change the backstory of the orcs to be peace loving pacifists because their deep hatred of the elves is genocidal and genocide is bad even pretend genocide.

[–]ClassroomPast6178 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

It’s a power play, it’s all about forcing publishers to do as they say and once they’ve done that and the publisher has debased their product sufficiently the crybullies move on to the next “issue” leaving a ruined game/tv show/film/franchise/novel in their wake.

As someone who grew up in the 80s playing ADnD 2nd edition, amongst other games, we just adapted the rules to our group style of play (and limited budgets meant we couldn’t run out and buy all the supplements so we had to be picky as the ones we bought).

There was zero reason for anyone to complain about “races” or whatever shit they were complaining about, because they could just add/subtract that to/from their game themselves and everyone would be happy. But it was never about that, it was about forcing the publisher to make changes because they could.

I mean, do you need rules to have gay characters? Does troonery make sense in a world containing magical transformations including magical sex changes (the funniest cursed item, in my 1980s schoolboy opinion)?

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

And of course you hit the nail on the head. You can just make your own rules since it's a game. And it doesn't matter.

Is what I'd say if I was an idiot. Are you crazy? You think you can make your own rules? My god? What's gonna happen when the kids think they can just stick a portable hole in a bag of holding and just pretend there's nothing wrong with that. My god! You are a menace!

[–]ClassroomPast6178 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

I wonder if it’s partly to do with the fact that kids for the past twenty or so years have had less and less time where they weren’t being “managed” by adults, teachers and helicopter parents.

They need an authority figure to tell them how to play.

There used to be a game called MERP (middle-earth roleplaying game) which had tables and charts for everything - you’re a hobbit camping in The Shire and you need to take a shit, roll 2D10 and consult chart 23 to see what happens!

My friends who loved Tolkien suffered through that game until someone, not me, pointed out that they could just play with ADnD rules in the Middle Earth setting. So we did and had a lot more fun.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

There's probably some of that, I'm a bit skeptical though, I think you're better off letting the kids go off and manage their own shit but I think you're always gonna have some kids that wait for others to tell them what to do and others that will just take charge regardless.

I'm of course frustrated by some of the idiocy I see younger people display but I'm surprised by their lack of idiocy fairly often as well, depends on the person. I've definitely taken to being an old grump towards them when they are stupid though.

These days it's kids and telephone phobia that grinds my gears. "Oh no the website for this shop doesn't have an E-mail only a phone number what do'

Wow what a pickle! I guess the best thing to do is just assume a fetal position until death takes you. Better than than making a phone call.

[–]Clown_Chan 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Well , don't play with them, then. Wokies usually just play with each other, you know.

Also, unfortunately, they are spending the money and buying the books too thus they have right to demand from authors whatever they want. Producents just don't really have a choice but to pander to them too, they like it or not, cuz wokies are also a customers.

[–]Alienhunter糞大名 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, I don't, but it doesn't really take more than a few of them to really disrupt any kind of social dynamics. Remember there's two types of workers, there's the ones that suffer from some kind of socially anxious fixation on being nice, they're harmless but tend to be easily bullied into doing anything, and there's the borderline personality disorder candidate psychos, who basically use anything "woke" as a way to guilt people into doing what they want, sometimes for no reason other than they can.

As far as the books care, yeah I sorta agree with you. If people want to buy the woke shit they'll write that for them. I don't buy it and will just do something else, I think that's the majority of people actually, but I'm also the type who questions why is buy much of any DND merchandise in the first place when I can use a poker chip in place of a figure and it works perfectly well.

Whole point is imagination, why do I need to buy shit to use my imagination?

[–]AriShekelsteinDDS 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

The kids are the endgame and they always have been.

The cartoon tells them it’s ok to trust a stranger with genderspecial pronouns while their teachers tell them not to trust their parents.

This is confusing messaging for kids and it is intentional.
