There's a reason these surgeries are couched in euphemisms. Once people become educated about what 'gender-affirming surgery' actually entails, they're not going to want to support it. Not with their tax dollars, and not without stringent medical vetting.

Yup, through all the recent attempts to get it wiped from the internet, I decided to check out kiwifarms. I ended up on the sex reassignment surgery thread and OMFG. It's horrific. And heartbreaking. I was already aware of how dodgy these surgeries are but I still wasn't prepared for what I saw. And this was reposts of posts from transitioned people, many of whom were claiming to be happy with their results.
I honestly believe that if the reality of these surgeries were mainstream news this would all be over in six months. And some of these surgeons would be in jail.

Yeah I've read a number of reports that are like "I'm happy with the results even though I'm in excruciating pain infected and need to go get another emergency surgery to prevent sepsis."
And I'm like, damn this person is clearly insane and we just, let them get whatever cosmetic surgeries they want regardless of the risks?
There's stuff like butt enhancements. (You inject some kind of substance into the buttocks to make it bigger, often results in lumpy deformed buttocks that look like something from a lunar landing expedition) and nobody has a problem telling people not to get those as they are dangerous. But invasive genital surgery on the suicidal person? Yeah anyone think that maybe that will make them more suicidal?

Why is this legal? That's my only question, man, why is it legal to do this to people, and to allow them to do this to themselves? This is not normal.
