If you find it annoying maybe you should stop reading comics, watching shows/movies?

I mean, I basically already have? Good advice actually. I think it's stupid when you say, take Velma and make her a Lesbian Indian woman in some adult rehash show. Like I literally have no desire to see it. So I won't, and the show won't make any money from me.

You think alienating the mass market is a good move for studios? Are you another one of the college artsy types that asks me to critique your screenplay and then gets made when I give you advice on how to improve it?

Trans characters really aren't interesting in media to anything resembling a mass market unless you go with the "psychopath killer" angle but that's deemed as problematic ain't it? Otherwise we've got what, a strong woman who totally is a woman goes through life being affirmed by everyone? That's boring.

Hmm how about, a child that isn't loved by his family finds out he is actually a wizard this whole time, then goes off to wizard affirming school where everyone praises him for being the best wizard ever and he is good at everything he ever does because of how awesome he is. I'm sure that's a great pro-trans interesting story you'll love eh? In fact there's a great book by famous trans author Robert Galbraith just about that trans-magical experience.

You are out of the loop. Indian Velma and lesbian Velma are two different Velmas. Indian Velma has the hots for Fred and East Asian Daphne, who has adopted lesbian cop moms, has 'complicated feelings' for Indian Velma. While lesbian Velma is og white Velma, in a new Scooby movie where she has a full on Pepé Le Pew reaction to some punk girl she meets.

Indian Velma fans are extremely disappointed in Mindy Kaling for not making Indian Velma a lesbian and accusing Mindy Kaling for having a crush on Glenn Howerton that she wants to experience vicariously through Velma.

Ah yes increasing a characters depth... not by giving them a struggle to overcome but by slapping a two dimensional label on them and using them for political pandering. Sexuality, gender none of that should matter. It shouldnt be an aspect of a character. Being trans doesnt offer growth. Its the opposite it symbolizes the lack of personal growth

Well, there's the problem- you think it's doine for "being interesting" or "pandering."

It's done for bullying- the knowledge "this character made [other] happy, and we TOOK them from you. We TOOK YOUR HAPPINESS FROM YOU. Now, you don't GET to be happy. And we can do it over and over again, WHENEVER WE WANT TO, and YOU CAN'T STOP US."

There does seem to be an almost giddy enjoyment from content creators at pissing off their loyal fan base. To be fair though, the nerds that go on about how the world is ending because Superman is now gay are pretty lame. Just say it's retarded and don't buy it. Simple.

All in all with comic books it seems like a bunch of perpetual man children that want to get in playground style debates over who is the biggest Doo Doo head. Classic bullying move of making fun of the nerdy kid until they snap then play innocent? Does that work in the adult world? Maybe when dealing with people who have the emotional maturity of grade school students. Unfortunately a common all too problem in society modern.

Well, of course it's perpetual manchildren in playground style debates bullying the nerdy kids until they snap, then playing innocent. That's the whole reason wokeness has succeeded mostly in aspects of nerd culture and expanded outwards from there.

It was said in the times of slavery the slave didn't dream of freedom, they dreamed of having a slave of their own- and this is the same. Wokesters are usually the kids who were bullied in high school, and instead of realizing "this sucks, we need to stop bullying", they decided "I want the chance to bully someone ELSE and be the one with power for a change". It already took hold in nerd culture beforehand (witness how much gatekeeping was there in the "...you claim to like this? Name [insert super-obscure factoid]. Now [another obscure one]. If you don't know exactly as much as me you're not a REAL fan- less and you're a fake geek girl, more and you're autistic so thus 'less' than me. I know how this story ends, you're GOING to reject me, so at least if I can do this I get the chance to reject you FIRST" bullshit nerds had gone through for a while, and the Woke capitalized and used it to hoist nerds up the flagpole using their own underwear.

I think it's mostly that popular culture has become largely derivative and there's a current trend of irreverence where everything that is old is bad and needs to be made new with modern sensibilities, but they lack the creative spark necessary to make totally new content, in the same way that someone with 10,000 cable television channels lacks something good to watch. Restrictions and limits breed creativity, the opposite breeds boredom, and the only thing they can really think of doing is taking things that already exist and break them apart. This is of course, part of the creative learning process, which is why kids right shitty fan fiction before they mature enough in their skill to make their own shit. But these days it feels like the writing staff never really moved on much past their awkward teenage phase.

This is why I'm very much looking forward to World War III. The abject terror and horrors of the nuclear holocaust will produce some of the absolute best in literature, art, and media, perhaps 30 years later. Lord of the Rings doesn't get written without WWI after all. Unfortunately almost nobody will read it due to the cataracts in the elderly and the collapse of society leading to the end of literacy in the youth. Oh well.

Honestly, I think it's clear demoralization is the endgame of this. The "candy bowl" analogy that's always been used of 'oh, our candy bowl is so bare, this other one is so full'? It's bullshit. It's always been bullshit. Ideas are infinite. If your candy bowl is bare, REFILL THE FUCKING BOWL.

So they want to change existing characters, but call it "character advancement". Feels like their plan is just to tie all pre-existing struggles the character had into "it's because they got the wrong body" narrative. Which would make it shallow as fuck. Ew.

Trans, like being gay shouldn't be your entire personality. A trans character won't be any more interesting than a cis character with a shallow personality and history. They will be just a boring trans character instead for example. But I like how they admit that they believe being trans makes you an interesting person overall - a cure to being just a basic, boring cishet. Wrong my dudes. You are now just even more annoying than before.
