I agree. Shit, it's worse for people to NOT get diagnosed.

You can't afford it? On the contrary, if you think you might be autistic, you can't afford NOT to get the diagnosis. If you get a diagnosis, you'll qualify as disabled for social security. They'll get you into Section 8 housing and you get low-income, rent-controlled apartments. They'll give you food stamps to pay your food bills. Shit, SSI/SSDI flat-out cuts you a check; THEY'LL GIVE YOU MONEY IF YOU'RE DISABLED. With all that in play, FIND a way to afford it. You have to not buy that anime figurine or video game, do it- hell, put that over food and rent. Shit, you have to even sleep on the streets and Dumpster dive or shoplift food to survive, do it in order to pay for a doctor to diagnose you...hell, that's a benefit if you can't afford it. If you get thrown in jail they'll give you a psychiatrist free and you can get diagnosed that way too. There's no doctor in your town? MAKE IT to a town there is one. Take the bus- shit, if you have no other options, hitchhike if you have to. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO GET THAT DIAGNOSIS. And if you tried hitchhiking, tried sleeping on the streets, you can't even afford to shoplift food and you have to eat your own shit to survive, and you still can't afford the diagnosis? Just make the appointment and just...don't pay the medical bill. Not like you probably haven't paid bills in the past, and once you get the diagnosis they can't...NOT...say you're diagnosed if you don't pay.

Is it hard to get onto Social Security with an autism diagnosis? Yes, it will be very hard to get on with a diagnosis. But I can guarantee you that it's IMPOSSIBLE if you have a self-diagnosis.

Someone was laughing at me the other day for saying that people get registered as blind. "It's so funny you think the government has a list of all the blind people" or something like that.

Ordinary working people have no idea how the system works.

In Scotland 1 in 5 people is registered disabled. No way are that many people actually disabled, they are claiming and faking disability to top up their income and it's all quite open in the communities. But then you say this to a middle class person who has never lived on benefits or been near a council estate and they will simply be horrified you could even think such a thing and never even get ton the point the might consider it true.

Wait why would they doubt that? Like not just for benefits and stuff but just getting help in general if you are blind? They'd probably need you to be registered.

It's just another world to most people.

It's just out there. You have to register for so many things even normally? So the idea that it wouldn't be is more out there. Have they never done any paperwork ever lol?
