Have you noticed the use of the word “kiddo” when referring to children. Seems really common amongst groomers.

also among normal people. Not everything is grooming.

I didn’t mean it was unique to groomers, just noticed that they tend to use it to refer to other people’s children whereas I’ve only ever heard parents use it to refer to their own children.

It's one of those words that seems a bit off at times. Same with pupper and doggo. They sound like someone is trying to sound younger than they are and idk it's internet speak but certain people using it makes it weird.

Yep, it's a sign people are playing a part.

Could be for good or bad reasons.

Like it's not bad on it's own, but certain people/contexts using it just sets me a bit on edge.

The paediatrician in “What is a woman?” uses “kiddo” during her interview and it totally squicked me out (she’s talking about children’s bodies changing during puberty and refers to them as kiddos🤮), but also came across as very unprofessional.

That's just weird. Just say children or child. Like I wouldn't want someone treating me talking like that. I wouldn't want her treating a child of mine. Not that I have children.

Honestly when it's deliberate like that it just makes me really uncomfortable. Not to mention it sounds like she's just brainwashing kids rather than doing something to help. She's supposed to protect children. She's completely nuts. Ignoring reality. It's going to cause harm.

I don't think I've ever used it except to mock people in a condescending way. Usually adults for acting like children. Or teens they hate it. "Your curfew is unfair because your parents won't let you stay out all night? Oh no kiddo how terrible for you, guess you'll have to go to bed early and study instead of delinquency with your friends, how horrible for you."

I think that's why it bothers me here. They seem like they're totally condescending to the kids issues, ah of course you're a man now and your name is Jake. I got ya kiddo. Just get your parents credit card for these hormones and cosmetic surgery that you absolutely need to make you happy and I'll tell the parents you're going to kill yourself if they don't pay.

It just feels to scummy to me. But then again I feel the same way about shrinks in general, people don't need to pay some stranger to give them life advice, they need friends and family.

Kids don't need some gender specialist to guide them through the pitfalls of puberty, they need friends and family.

I wonder sometimes if this isn't a eugenics project to sterilize the undesirables like we had back 100 or more years ago, but it mostly seems to be affecting affluent rich liberal types.
