That part is not quite accurate. Since the uterus has female DNA, the man's body would now contain female DNA. This is very similar to The Ship of Theseus.

One might go on to argue that, even with a uterus, female arms and female legs, the person is still a man because a person is defined by their brain. Medical science is a long way away, but if it were possible, I think a male brain transplanted onto a female body would be considered a female person by the majority.

The Ship of Theseus is made of replicas of all of its original parts. The question underlying the premise of the Ship of Theseus no longer applies when your wooden warship has been retrofitted with a machine gun.

If you really feel the need to bring the Ship of Theseus into this discussion, the question would be whether the modern Navy that previously declined to purchase the Ship of Theseus to use as a warship would now be interested in doing so since it has been retrofitted with a machine gun. And the answer to that question, by the way, is the same no as before.

Edit: Now that I think about it, bringing up the question of the Ship of Theseus in the context of this discussion misses the mark in two major ways, not just one. The question was never about whether the Ship of Theseus was still a ship, since the answer to that was always trivially obvious. The question was whether it was the same ship as the one that was originally built. Whether it is or isn't, that has no bearing on the discussion of whether or not a man that has had a uterus implant is still a man.

Fun points. It just made me think of the Ship of Theseus, which evokes the thought: "if a man replaces all his body parts with that of a female's, is he still a man?" Then you'd have to go on and define exactly what a "man" is. The law probably uses DNA, but there are some stories out there that will make you think twice.

Evidently this is a bit of an issue for kids that transition from mtf and are started on puberty blockers early. There's not enough penile tissue to create a functional "vagina". There's other tissues that they use, namely part of the colon.

Currently, the most popular and described vaginoplasty technique is penile inversion with skin graft [6, 9]. Despite being the current gold standard, common drawbacks of this method include malodor, lack of natural lubrication, development of granulation tissue within the canal, and need for lifetime maintenance [6, 7, 9].

I had some wacko trying to tell me that they are already possible and that’s the reason the preference is “transphobic”. I’m a car guy myself so I used the analogy of putting a corvette engine in a minivan not making that a corvette, sure it’ll perform better and more dudes than before would be interested in driving it, but it’s still not a corvette to a purist. apparently I’m wrong and engineswapphobic as well, who knew?

It's more akin to frankenstein surgery. Good luck convincing insurance that you need a uterus. That said, I think it's possible because male heart to female patient transplants are already very common.

Shit. I'm sorry, I got a text at the same time and went full scatterbrained. It's a medical article going over heart transplants between the sexes. Men receiving transplants from women have a higher chance of rejecting the organ. Your hearts are larger than ours are, so your body has to compensate pretty heavily.

Even with organs that men and women share there is a higher risk of transplant rejection if the organ is going male->female or female->male. Not to mention that a man's body just isn't build for a uterus.

I think that's something that'll only ever exist in science fiction. It'd probably be easier to do full brain transplants than giving men female organs.

You have nothing to worry about. It's biological impossible to do a successful uterus transplant on a male. His immune system would reject it violently and, unless he took medication that suppressed the reaction for the rest of his life, it would end up killing him in the end. Furthermore, even if his body didn't attack, the rest of his body isn't build for pregnancy. The baby wouldn't get the nutrients it needed to grow and be healthy.

If you only see from the individual level, yes the individual genes residing in an animal that does not reproduce will not propagate. If you see it from an evolutionary biology (population) perspective it is apparent that it does not cause dead ends for a population. Mammals and birds engage in the behavior and they are successful at the population level. This makes it an inherent part of nature. It is degenerative at a population level only in the same way dead skin falls away exposing new skin at the individual level.

I suppose an excess of this exhibited behavior could be compared to eczema or leprosy given how you view the situation. However following the analogy, would you blame your flesh for its state if you were to suffer the disease? Also, who are you as an individual to judge what level of this natural phenomena is appropriate for society? As an individual, if you were given complete dictatorial power, how would you choose to combat this self-perceived scourge that ecologically creates space for those of different lineages you find less repulsive?

If I had eczema, I would focus on reducing the circumstances that cause flare-ups of this degenerative nature. I do find society to be structured in a way that creates much unnecessary suffering. There is a lack of community that has emerged from the degeneration of Christianity as a widespread social glue. "Don't lie", "don't steal" and "believe in the system (god, historically, was a symbol for the system)" are all crumbling. What steps are you taking in the world to help with this lack? (This question can be rhetorical or an invitation or a challenge depending on how you view it.) Faith without works is dead after all, wouldn't you agree? I have my works.

I guess my point is you are projecting your anger onto a perceived symptom rather than a cause. You come with no solution and negativity to something you see as a self-resolving problem and you cause division. I personally find those projecting anger and disgust where it will not help to be a symptom of lack of critical thinking in this society. Probably stems from our obedience oriented indoctrination camps (both public and private) during the youth's developmental years.

If we all could think a little deeper, work towards what we perceive as possible and blame a little less I'd wager things would improve. But what do I know. I'm just some dude on the internet.

People alway point out animals....

I work with a dog breeder/trainer. Yes, dogs hump each other. It is pure horniness, and they definitely feel shame when they do it. I have seen it happen so many times. One dog starts the humping, realizes what he is doing, then stops. Every time. I know some dogs who are trapped in an apartment all the time with another male dog, and that might end up being a common occurrence (like prison sex, not natural, a forced necessity for the dogs) but that is not natural. Females dogs hump when they are in heat. So, hormones.

It is never because they are gay. Or because they are consciously making the decision to fuck because of pleasure. They are getting the primal desire to mate and choose the nearest thing to do it. If it is a female dog, it might go on for a while. Males dogs never finish if they are humping another male. They will go limp-dick and stop, because it is unnatural. The only dogs that I know of who break this are trapped apartment dogs who seem broken in more ways than one.

I have seen thousands of dogs. I know what I am talking about with this one. People might be able to use another animal to prove your point about gayness being in nature, but in dogs, gayness is a reaction and not an action. They are not choosing to be gay, nor are they born gay (which is what gay humans try to peddle). They get the same urge a gay man gets to fuck something, and they turn to the nearest flesh. The difference is that the free, healthy dog feels shame and stops.

There's a trans guy who lives up the street from me, he's genuinely nice. But it's obvious he is mentally ill. Same as any other trans person I've met.

To those arguing the uterus transplant nonsense, just look up a picture of how all a woman's organs shift to adapt to a fetus, we're pretty different inside. Also, the brain&body aren't going to recognize/accept/support an organ they have no use for.
