You do have more than enough volunteer labor to watch the feed 24/7 if you want it/trust people not to powertrip

You'd think so, but most people in practice have the same attitude as you. "Id rather it not affect my ability to comment and post, I don't want to ruin my user experience" which I understand. Also it's a lot of work, so I don't want to try to force anyone to do it who doesn't want to.

the answer is easy.

the users who are willing to clean up spam make new accounts and don't let anyone know who they are. I you accepted my offer, i'd spin up an account and use that, keeping me able to keep being bobbobbybob without exposing myself or the site to drama.

wrt to the spam, many hands make light work. Just send more difficult stuff up the chain and not get involved in it

Frankly, I assumed most of the people in positions of "power" on this site and most others always used separate accounts for their administrative duties.
