Your comments can be perused without looking at your profile. Just go on google and type site:https://saidit.net/ "GetOffMyLawn" along with something you want to look up about a person, like their opinion on "Ruqqus", and this thread title shows up.

Privating comments will only benefit trolls https://saidit.net/s/SaidIt/comments/5fja/can_we_make_our_postcomment_history_private_like/kvma as dedicated people can still dox you.

I don't see anything when I search Google that way. It's also a clumsy way to browse things and only the most extremely dedicated people would ever even attempt that to the point they would have any success. It would also take more guesswork as you'd have to search for things like specific cities rather than seeing a comment history full of /r/Chicago and reasonably assuming they live in Chicago. It's all about making it more difficult, I don't care if the .000001% of computer users can maybe figure stuff out, I want the 90% to not be able to do it. Vehicle immobilizers don't stop 100% of car thieves, but it stops the random punk kid that could hot wire a car back in the 90's but won't figure out how to defeat a more complex RFID system.
