Hm could very well be. Interesting idea. r/Watchredditdie also just recently took us out of their automod suggested list of alternatives, the day before this interview was done (which I found extremely strange), so there's only ruqqus suggested now. Whereas before it was notabug, saidit, and ruqqus.

The mod who did my interview for that post said that he said another mod removed them because too many options was confusing. Which seems like a flimsy excuse. So the mod who did my interview, is trying to convince the mod who removed saidit from the list, to add saidit back on.

So, it's possible the removal of saidit from the automod list is related to the fact we're getting DDOSd so repeatedly.

However I also remember the day of, or after, that was posted, ruqqus was down for like 8 hours from DDOS as well, so even their favorite was getting attacked. And we chatted with the ruqqus admins and they seemed cool.

It's all pretty weird tbh. And you saw this, right? https://saidit.net/s/Internet/comments/4ve7/large_portions_of_american_internet_suffering/

So it could be something much larger-scale, that has nothing to do with saidit specifically, but maybe just all social media sites. But it might be specific to us too, because I haven't heard anything about wide-scale attacks in a few days, but we're still getting them. So I really don't know what's going on, but you might be on to something! I just know we're pretty well defended now, thankfully. That's the important part.

Ruqqus also under heavy DDoS recently. In fact they're down right now.

Oh wow. Thanks for the info. That sucks. We gave them our script that would help prevent it, but I don't think they were able to use it unfortunately.

There's a lot of DDOSing going around right now, it's pretty out of control tbh. It's gone from being an occasional fringe issue to a central concern in just a matter of weeks, and it sounds like ruqqus is having the same thing happen to them. I wonder how wide-spread this thing really is

So you were the awesome guys who did that - thanks! I like ruqqus, saidit too - we need to keep free speech alive
