BTU efficiency means practically nothing though. It tells us a bit about energy efficiency but that's about it.

But commercial airline flights at optimum passenger numbers can get relatively close to the energy efficiency of a car per a ground mile, they still pollute more, but they aren't completely awful for the environment.

However, a private jet, flying 26 miles is absolutely INSANELY wasteful no matter how you cut it.
