One of the problems here is the SCOTUS' misinterpretation of the second amendment, at the behest of the Russian-infiltrated NRA.

You have to be hyper-vigilant of teenagers, because these mass shootings keep happening, and hypervigilance is the smaller price to pay.

For the checks and balances to work against the SCOTUS you need to have a filibuster proof majority in the house and in the senate. For a safer and saner country, you need to vote for sanity all the way down the ticket.

I seriously doubt he'll be convicted of a Class E felony, though since at least July there has been a law that a threat of mass murder is enough to warrant an indictment. If that school board did not make it clear to parents that this was the law, and if the finger pointing appeared to be as dumb as it would seem to us, I wonder if the mother might have a reasonable legal case against the school. Ignorance of the law is no excuse for commiting crimes, but this hand gesture seems like it's not much of a threat. Nonetheless, anyone reporting this should put it in the context of other "mass violence threats" since July that have resulted in arrests in TN: https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2024/sep/07/words-do-have-consequences-eight-student-arrested/#/questions

For the last fucking time, no one is killing anyone. No one is coming for you. Congratulations, you slipped through the cracks.

There is no part of the program where you roll the dice with one stupid person just to see if the kid is retarded. The stupid parent is sterilized and a donor supplies their half of the genetics. 100% of the time that leads to a smarter baby.

No one is going to be breaking the law just so they can produce retarded babies. If your parents had the option to get a vetted, high quality zygote implanted for free they would have chosen that in a heartbeat.

Anyone who does produce retarded babies is not going to face any kind of retaliation. The system does not rely on perfection. Every bit helps.

Won't that encourage people to simply try and breed as much as possible before they are sterilized

Stupid people don't breed because they want kids, they do it because they are too stupid to use contraceptives. In cases where they do want kids they can absolutely still have kids using donors. The vast majority of stupid people would absolutely agree to have smart, attractive kids if only given that choice. It would be paid for by the state. No increased cost to have invetro fertilization for those who have been sterilized.

There is no punishment for "breaking the rules" because it is simply up to the state to identify and sterilize the mentally unfit. It can easily be done in primary school where it is obvious who the potential candidates are and easy to test them.

It if also not a problem for the program if it does not get every very low IQ person sterilized. Anything is an improvement over what we have now. And every bit helps.

No, you're attempting to answer the question... Right now, in fact... While struggling, it seems, with the fact you have to answer it.

But you're almost there! You can do it! <3

So you aren't going to terminate children who are born from stupid people who slip between the gaps of the sterilization program. Won't that encourage people to simply try and breed as much as possible before they are sterilized and result in future problems if there's errors in the program? What happens if people... And they always do with these kinds of programs... Attempt to avoid participating and want to rebuff the rules? If you let the child live you haven't prevented much in the way of stupid people continuing. Is there a punishment for the parties who broke that rule? One, I assume, that separates the child from the low IQ parent?

Oh, you're right. It's the difference, not the chance. Sorry.
Either way, it doesn't answer the original hypothetical. Either of them. Did you want to give them a go? Knowing that the impact range is between 50% to 80%, meaning it might have little impact or great impact, thus meaning you can't predict the result comfortably, will your process change? Your "Threshold" idea might mean that, with the possibility of a 50% impact, the only people you could reliably sterilize knowing that their impact on their child's IQ would be significant would be people who can barely dress themselves, let alone steal a car to drive to a police station for their drugs.

And what about rogue children in the second hypothetical? What are we doing in the intellectual utopia to prevent people having children and then shrugging and saying: "Too late now I guess" and are we making exceptions for low IQ people who pair up with high IQ people?

The more I talk to you the more I think it would make sense to just kill stupid people.

Your question is fundamentally flawed because my proposed plan would never, ever even consider killing a baby between two people of any intelligence. You think it would because you are too stupid to fully comprehend what is going on.

No one is terminating babies.

[–]Canbot 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I don't think you understand. What I'm saying is

No, it's clear you don't understand what the studies are saying.

If 50% of intelligence comes from genetics it is not a 50/50 probability. That's not how any of this works. What that means is that twins separated at birth, one gets zero education, a terrible family, lots of abuse and all the things associated with lower IQ; and the other gets the best of everything their test scores will show that 50% of the intelligence at adulthood will be different. So if twin 1 ends up with an IQ of 90 then twin 2 will have an IQ of 110 (possible score range of 50-150). Meaning that half their intelligence came from nature and half from nurture.

It's not a random chance at any IQ.

Stupid people often think things they don't understand or disagree with are stupid.

And stupid people often making sweeping, clearly idiotic statements like: "Very low IQ people are not like that". It's okay, you said something dumb and I poked fun at you. It happens.

I'd be happy to be the first in the program.

Depends how its done though, right? Vasectomy? Yeah, okay, maybe. Losing all use of your junk? Maybe don't race down and flunk the IQ test on purpose.

The threshold for sterilization would be low enough that only those with significant genetic impairment would qualify. Alternatively we could use genetic testing, or genetic verification where necessary.

I don't think you understand. What I'm saying is, the studies suggest anywhere between a 50% (Coin flip) and 80% (Pretty certain) chance that a stupid person will have a stupid baby. It's not that you can do a DNA test and determine that percentage chance that someone will have a low IQ child, it's that there isn't a strong consensus on how much of a chance there is you'll simply be born dumb because your genetics determine it and how much of a chance you'll rise above because genetics aren't the determining factor.

So the question is - understanding now that we aren't totally sure that a low IQ person will always produce a low IQ baby, are you still keen to stop them reproducing, or are you planning on altering your "Planetary Ruler" platform? Is it "Better safe than sorry", or "Maybe this needs a long, cruel study to really determine the future of stupid people's sperm. Burn the ethics board and bring me 1000 sets of new born twins!"?

No one is proposing terminating anything. It is a sterilization program. The sterilized person can still have children via a donor sperm or egg.

I don't know if you're incapable of understanding questions and hypothetical situations. You seem to be struggling in answering them. Let me ask it again and explain how they work - I want you to imagine that you got what you wanted and you're now in charge of sterilizing low IQ people. It turns out, however, that a stupid person didn't get sterilized and had a child behind your back... However, it isn't the offspring of two stupid people, it's a stupid person and a smart person who ended up together. What is your stance? Do we have to terminate the child to keep the program running and all children of low IQ people pure? Is the child deemed okay because it's 50% high IQ? Does the program not terminate children if the sterilization doesn't work or the child is already created and, if so, what is stopping low IQ people who want babies running out and making babies as quickly as possible before their turn at the clinic?

I'm just asking fun hypotheticals about our brave new world! :)

Some studies suggest the genetic component is as low as 50% for IQ

The threshold for sterilization would be low enough that only those with significant genetic impairment would qualify. Alternatively we could use genetic testing, or genetic verification where necessary.

You know, if someone steps on a scales it measures their weight. If they then step on the scales again, it measures the same weight. If they step on a different scale, it will measure a similar weight, and with the correct calibration tools you could work out how much the measurements are out by, and what the actual true weight of the person is.

Weight is not subjective at all.

Some studies suggest the genetic component is as low as 50% for IQ. Some suggest as high as 80%. Knowing that there's a non-0 chance that a low IQ person might have an average or above average IQ child and that genetics aren't the only factor, would your eugenics policy remain the same?

What if the stupid person was having a child with an intelligent person? Would you deem that to great a risk and terminate the child?

Pretty sure I can. We allow judges to base prison time on remorse and good behaviour and various other subjective things all the time.

But in the spirit of the question, and based on the above: obeys the law, works a job and does no harm beyond what a normal, healthy, intelligent person does on any day.

How do you measure that?

You can't base something so important on subjective assessment.

A US woman called Margaret....

It is strange reporting when they do not give the full name, but they supply pictures of the woman's face.

Margaret does admit that 'gets sad' watching the bees die after she stings herself with them....

But not sad enough to stop.

"...Saorsa-Amatheia Tweedale, a transgender woman who co-chairs the LGBT+ Civil Service Network."

Tell me we didn't see that coming. I guess that's now a gender? Tranny sex worker?

It amazes me that you would have to make that clear in any workplace outside one where that is the uniform of the day (sex work). Just feeds into the stereotype that none of this trans delusion is about identity, but rather it's about attention. I was a boring, middle-aged man, but now that I'm trans, everyone has to walk on eggshells for me. Can't wait for this bullshit to run its course, but I'm afraid of what's next.

CrowdStrike released a faulty update that rendered around 8.5 million Windows devices unusable....

Has Microsoft also apologized and offered free gifts? It was their Windows product that crashed.

The message on the blue screen in the background photo is suspicious....

"We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you." That's a Microsoft Windows error, right? What was the info they collected and why does it take so much time to gather it that it justifies a custom blue screen?

How is that new operating system working out?
