I never heard it until I watched "The Magicians" a few months ago, it's in the first episode and the first episode captures the message and feelings of this song perfectly. I remember it making me catch the feels back then.

I'm almost done with Uni, and just moved into my first apartment a month ago, the day I moved in I had this song on repeat. This song is going to be how I remember 2020 lol. I mean, we're all human. We all feel this way to an extent. And knowing some truths about this world, society, how corrupt and "fake" (and game-like) it is & can be, makes it kinda even more painful to listen to.

Edit: By any chance, do u have any good MGMT recommendations 4 me? This and "Little Dark Age" are the only 2 songs I know by them so far/like.

My favorite songs of theirs are the most popular ones, but I'll also suggest the following:
Check out MGMT's "Congratulations" and Post Malone's cover "Congratulations ft. Quavo" and Superorganism's cover of the cover
MGMT remixed "Evident Utensil" originally by Chairlift

“Electric Feel” and “Kids”

Thanks for the recommendations! So far all the songs I’ve heard from them have a very different sound to them (T2P, Little Dark Age, EF & Kids) - it’s like the vocals are their signature, but sonically/instrumentally, anything goes, which is interesting.

I like Electric Feel’s sound a lot, but Kids reminded me a lot of this track. It was almost like a part 1 with the music video combined. The monsters around the crib scaring the baby were all older relatives/grandparents, and when you’re a baby, everyone and everything is scary to you - cognitive development-wise, for the first 6 months you look mainly to your mother for comfort. I’ve noticed between these four songs they have a lot of interesting themes in their music about family, society, life and “growing up”. I always overlooked them as hipster pop, my loss lol

Ty again 😊
