...or pragmatism.

It sounds like it was less about thinking the baby would be disabled (even if that was a concern too) and more that she didn't want to start raising another child at 50.

This is why they make those baby stations. You put the baby in and walk away.

The stories I have heard is that the nuns were telling the mothers that the babies died, but were selling them to adoptive couples.

I don't know anything about God or any feelings he might have on this issue, but I think, if this story were true, it's just the right choice. Not only do the kids sound like they are unfit to be a parent, but she's 16... She essentially needs a parent herself still.

I don't like the modern culture of frivolous abortions being used in place of protection by indifferent, a-moral idiots who don't even understand the complex question of if or not it's right to abort, but it sounds like the mother of this girl is torn up by the choice. I don't think she took the decision lightly, and I think that's key to making the choice - understanding the weight of it.

The daughter is never going to get smarter. It's not going to get easier to raise a child for her when her mother is too old to help. She killed her grandchild because it was inconvenient. She wants to be able to play bingo on her iPad instead of dealing with family.

I think it's pretty horrific.

I don't necessarily think having children is for everyone - Unless her daughter is actually disabled in some way, she will get smarter and she will become self sufficient, but if she doesn't, I'd pity a kid raised by her.

I'm not going to project alternative reasons onto her, like being lazy or it being inconvenient. She has a child who is too young to have a child of her own and isn't very bright and expecting her to raise a happy, healthy child would be almost as horrific. I can only judge what I see here, and what I see here is someone who was reluctant and seems guilt ridden, and that's what I hope for when it comes to abortion. I hope the people who see no other choice are actually aware of the possible ramifications of their choice, and not just doing it because there was a line at the counter for the Plan B.
