Most of my comments are from TiA, genusa, SJiA, conservative etc - so I wonder if they just banned me for my opinions....they definitely chose a weird post to use, though.

I've heard that some Reddit subs have bots that randomly trawl through the history of posters, and if they find comments in any "wrongthink" subs, regardless of what the comment actually is, the bot hits the ban switch on that poster.

No idea of it's true or not, but since the alternative is some utter no-lifer staring obsessively at a screen for hours every day while meticulously scrolling through the post histories of hundreds (or more) random users, who knows.

It's true, and it's completely against Reddit ToS, unless you're doing it against the wrong think targets as you say.

There are a few, SRS, TwoX, OffmyChest to say the least.
