We should all care. Like the platform or not, Reddit holds immense power by being able to socially engineer people. This is just one more step towards a more authoritarian world. They just keep chipping away.

They're sinking their own boat though, the more they ban the better

Except these people always fail upwards and will be given more power after they kill off their host like a parasite.

Sadly, agreed.

I won't quit throwing buckets of water their way though.

This is not futile. I believe the relentless, intelligent few can still drag the masses to safety. No fun, shitty job but if you can stand by while the sheep are picked off you're no better than the (elite)wolves.

I don't think so. They have enough morons to keep that boat going.

Good. They should all stay on the boat. Or boats (twitfakbokinstaddt).

The world needs a woodstocklevel regathering. But first, the internet needs it. Sad to admit but I fully believe we are getting to that point; the life, failures, and successes of the virtual world are terribly reminiscent, and often preceding of our real world.

Fuck you're right.

I care, in the sense I hope Reddit is replaced by something better.

Won't happen. I hope so too. But I just don't see it. We are in the end game now. Each day, we move closer to total control. Nowhere will be open or safe

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."

The short story is that anyone launching another "free speech reddit alternative" is almost certainly doomed to fail. I'm taking a completely different approach myself, which is why it's taking a long time, and not as simple as "Just clone X, get a few servers, and launch it!" I suppose a reddit-clone could get lucky, but I don't think any of the existing alternatives I've seen have shown they have what it takes to replace Reddit.

Will my own attempt work? I suppose I'll find out.

you'd slowly get better at the piano

    that's a different result

if you always stay at the same skill you're practicing wrong. Need to learn scales or something. Learn a new more difficult song.

It can be, if your practice is always the same.
