Well, I do too, but it is only because I am explicitely searching for them. In average popular media there more gay men, and in general they are just there. While lesbians are often if added - only as a trophy or "for looks". Later years DC and few other companies started adding lesbians into mainstream media, like Poison Ivy + Harley Quinn, or in She-Ra. And I was really glad that in Adventure time they actually made Marcelina nad Bubblegum to be together in last episode, but I am sad that they were not brave enough to do that earlier, as they were afraid of being banned and loosing money in many countries.

Hm, actually, maybe nowadays there is more lesbian stuff than gay. I stopped watching mainstream media around 5 years ago. So I am speaking with 5+ years old perception in mind.

No, actually, I really see more lesbians in normal media, without searching for it. Lesbian couples are more common, cause they're more tolerated.

Seems times are changing, or maybe mainstream media that is popular here is a bit different to the ones in the west.

That actually interesting thing. Gay men are less tolerated here, but in movies and tv series produced here or in Russia there a lot more gay men, while almost zero lesbian couples. And mainstream media from the west that is popular here is often have some kind of gay men innuendos, but often no lesbians. At least it was like that before.

Here in general "strong woman" shows or movies or even games are not popular at all, even among women.

And in older times it was other way around, with Buffy, Xena, etc.

Yeah same in here. Gay men are a lot more popular in national media. But i agree that in the US media lesbians tend to be more common.

In general, in series and popular media, if there is a gay couples, it is usually women. Recently they had the first major videogame, with a lesbian protagonist, the last of us 2. The 100 series had a beautiful lesbian couple, the end was tragic, but they were still cool. These two, from a soap in Spain, had me hooked, the younger woman is really married with a woman in real life:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GDmfQ5xRbA

How many things are slightly or strongly different in different countries, even if they are neighbourhgs.

It is interesting to learn more about different situation with lesbians and our representation in the world.

And yeah, it is always only single gay too, almost never couples.

In gaming, thought, situation is different. Especially in japanese games - there like almost never gay men, but sometimes there whole game is full of overly sexualized lesbian couples (like there even whole worlds with lesbians only and one MC male).
