The women who actively participate in this and court public attention and admiration for it are complicit, not victims. And sometimes are even groomers who actively want to trans their male partners so that they can pose as the dutiful, oh so supportive wife. She is no victim.

That's true, there's going to be some number of women like that and they're worth acknowledging. I haven't done a deep dive on it but I've also heard some stories from the "trans widows" community-- women whose AGP husbands transitioned and became incredibly aggressive towards them when they didn't play along. There are definitely different "subtypes" of women in that situation... in some ways, those different patterns of response may be as different as are AAP/AGP and HSTS.
