I swear though, sometimes I think many libs think similarly too, but they just react to it differently. Like, "have compassion/empathy for the freaks; They're deconstructing our repressive social norms" or something dumb like that.

EXACTLY. I have become so much more suspicious of self-proclaimed liberal "allies"; I do think a significant number of them probably think like this. It's incredibly condescending, to say the least.
