Context(archive)

So basically during the Allison Bailey case a LGBA rep gave the their newsletter subscriber stats while under oath(Did I mention under oath?) and only 7% explicitly said they were lesbian. TRAs held on to this number for dear life and barely registered that these were different surveys taken under completely different circumstances and many subscribers didn't even bother to state their orientation at all when signing up for the email newsletter. The insinuation is that they were all heterosexuals(the projection), and that the LGBA was therefore lying when they put out their October stats taken from real attendees.

No surprises there. But guess what? Even if all those people were straight, it's still nice knowing that there are straight people who are standing up for us.

There's something both ludicrously hilarious but also at the same time uniquely sinister about a bunch of straight homophobes desperately trying to convince themselves that the pushback they're facing could only possibly be coming from other straight homophobes.

That's awesome that they actually asked and shared data on that! I hope other organizations will follow their example!

Also, 84%-- that's about on par with the percentage of LGB users in this sub, I think, last time someone did a poll. (I'm kinda kicking myself for not doing a poll before we went private, I've been meaning to for ages.)

The TRAs freaking out in the comments section don't seem to understand that asking different populations can result in different estimates. Conference-goers are likely to be particularly interested supporters of LGB Alliance, whereas it's easy for anybody to sign up for a newsletter, for example. How many straight people would go out of their way to attend a conference about LGB rights? Only a very few cool ones!

That's a good point; Which they would purposefully miss, no doubt.

Anyway, I find it kinda funny because I'll bet they derived a fair amount of satisfaction from writing off the Alliance as mostly straight "transphobes". Now, they'll have to settle for mostly gay and bi "transphobes", oops..

Yep. Let's get it out in the open. I don't care if they call us transphobic but lying about us being "straight" is reality-denying to the max. Our existence is inconvenient for them; cool. Let's just get this discussion out into the light!

Do we know how many people attended this conference?

I don't know but just curious, are you intentionally removing the upvote on all your comments?

Yeah, haha. I don't like upvoting my own stuff. I think it should be zero by default.

Lol that's fair. I guess I justify it as, "I didn't click the button so it doesn't count as a self-like!"

That's pretty huge. Lesbians are the smallest group of the 3, yet make up 41% of people in attendance. Says a lot about how specifically targeted lesbians have been by the whole thing and how tried lesbians are of it.

Blows up their whole narrative of lesbians accepting trans women. It's lesbians being bullied and silenced, not lesbians accepting this bullshit.
