I hadn't realized that this was a private sub. I didn't even realize that private subs were a thing on saidit, just goes to show you how naive I can be.

When did this sub go private? And may I ask: is the harassment from the T side or the (non-woke) anti-LGB side? Or neither?

Whether because of our feedback or others, some users ended up not being promoted. But many were, and are now Admins who can see all of our private conversations, posts, wikis, etc. They can see inside this sub right now, even though it's private, since Admins still need to be able to ensure subs/users aren't breaking sitewide rules.

Oh, yeah. Being as private as I am, that possibility would irritate the heck outta me, too. Though, as a consolation I'd like to think that any no-lifers who take advantage of that potential omniscience would feel like proper creepers for doing so.

Unless we host our own site, anywhere we go will be subject to the same, which we're aware of. But given the hostility we've been dealing with since we moved here, and knowing that users have personally threatened to try to infiltrate and break us up, we don't believe this sub or site is secure for us.

It's too bad there are so few decent options. I remember looking for them few months back based on an mod inquiry for just a plain private forum and hitting a dead-end rather soon into my research when I realized that the internet just kinda blows when it comes to this kind of thing. More data storage and hosting than one can possibly ever use for a good price? No prob. Low bandwidth private(for real) forum for a mere handful of your chums/associates? No can do. Unless one constructs, takes control, and micromanages most everything about a site(and subsequently is tied down with the responsibility), prepare to be on the 'focus group' side of an online one way mirror, with the other side populated by Norman Bateses.

But anyway, if the mods want help for something relatively straightforward like managing an official social media account, then I'm formally offering my services.

Unless we host our own site...

If this is something you're considering, I'd be happy to offer my expertise. Though even renting a VPS could potentially have the same issues. Instead of site admins, there's the company that actually owns and has access to the physical hardware. Idk, I'd like to help where I can.
