Sooooo are any of these characters actually gay? or are they all just gender special?

Remember that according to the genderosexuals "gay" is now an umbrella term which covers every variety of person the planet except homosexual males, who are all transphobic white supremacists and not welcome in the Rainbow Alphabet Community.

Unfortunately, as I understand it, Russell T. Davies is pretty woke and pro-trans, so it's not that surprising that the show would turn into a TQ+ drama.

Yeah, he gave some cringeworthy speech where he didn't use the letter T to indicate what dropping the T would look like and said "To cut out the T is to kill". The character who ended up visiting AIDS patients in It's A Sin was a straight woman too. I'm pretty sure the only lesbians in the whole series were two fairly minor characters

There are unfortunately too many people who take a "Fuck you, I've got mine" approach and RTD is one of them

I'll be honest and say that I watched Queer As Folk (the US version) and I thought it was okay but I didn't really relate to any of it. It's sort of like Looking - decent show but there was nothing about the characters' lives that I could really see myself as a gay man in. Maybe it's because I've never been one for going around clubbing and having lots of anonymous sex, I don't know.

That being said, for a lot of gay men, Queer As Folk was something intensely relatable and for at least a couple of men I know, the show was instrumental in them coming out of the closet. Shame that it's going to be rebooted as, apparently, a non-binary fest. But I guess that's what the kids like nowadays.

I really do wonder how much of what people know about us in the future is going to be through our media, which is heavily skewed as to not being representative of the population as a whole.

I was completely unable to relate the US version but the original UK version was a different story.

The old Queer as Folk was about gay men coming to terms with their sexuality and the fun and dangerous aspects of being into parties. The new “Queer as Folk” will be about how super awesome and put-together trans people are and how no one can resist how attractive they are.
