"Second, the essay considers the compulsory heterosexuality embedded in the medical logic of transsexuality in the 1960s, arguing that the medical ontology of the transsexual vagina was itself dependent upon the avowal of its immediate and exclusive use for penetration by straight men, making transsexual lesbians implausible despite their evident existence."

Lol

It's maddening how they hit on homophobia but they position themselves as the victims of the homophobia, when really they are upset that they could not benefit from policies and procedures that only exist because of homophobia. Like those who laud Iraq and Pakistan for their support of trans rights but whine that the policies are discriminatory against them. If they were candid about what's actually going on and didn't try to erase others' victimhood to wear as their own costume and rewrite history to hide their misappropriation, then I would sympathize. But let's not pretend female-attracted MtFs far and wide self-identified as lesbians and were eager to be seen as such, or that they played any role whatsoever in the gay rights movement.

But yea, no shit 1960's western society and modern Iraq and Pakistan aren't interested in creating the appearance of more homosexuality (not that transbians with female partners ever pass for being a lesbian couple). Do they also want to unpack why Nazi Germany targeted homosexuals but not homosexual transexuals?
