You're dead on. PACs and lobbying groups do this with Twitter hashtags and SEO keywords constantly.

For instance, let's say #transitionregret starts trending on Twitter, or search terms including "transition" and "regret" begin to tick higher in an upward trend on Google (this is easy to track.) PACs will flood the hastag with posts about regretting not transitioning. They'll push media allies to publish articles about transpeople who regret not transitioning sooner, and make sure the words "transition" and "regret" feature in the title.

This is common practice in the PR world. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this has been going on just this week with the whole Chris Chan debacle. The last thing they need is normies finding out the whole sordid story. As I recall, the original hashtag it trended with was #CHRISCHANDIDWHAT
