The Onion being prescient, as always.

I miss the old Onion 😩

Prescient comment on the video:

This is probably the fastest way to encourage gay people out of a small town. It's like a reverse lynch mob.

I swear some of them do this on purpose! I don't have proof but holy fuck does it feel that way!

And the whole point of the parade was for straight people to virtue signal, feel progressive and practice their kinks in public. It was All. About. Them. It was a performance and the gay guy was just a prop. Which is absolutely how I feel in June.

For example: I have been incandescently pissed off at Johnathan van Ness since his rainbow Love is Love Smirnoff vodka Pride campaign a couple of years ago. I'm not exactly a teetotaller but using Pride and getting a gay celebrity to sell booze to gay and trans males is so, so evil. Alcohol abuse is the main risk factor for HIV and AIDS morbidity and mortality. And JVN should know, I doubt he was sober when he got gay pregnant. Smirnoff does not GAF and neither do any of the other corporations. Ugh, now I need to shower.

I think this is true. Personally, I’ve had several straight people and one “queer” woman married to a man wish me a “happy pride” out of nowhere, but my actual gay friends have barely acknowledged it. It’s definitely for straights to virtue signal
