UPDATES AND NEWS
Hello friends! Us mods are in dire need of your help. Our mod team is dwindling, and we need a few more of you!
We'd love to have another full-time/full-permissions mod join the team, but we understand that's a big responsibility and you may not be able to or even want to take it on. We're also happy to have new mods just help us out with ModQueue management (reported content), and grow into other duties only if or when you want them.
We know there have been a few recent SaidIt outages, and Admins here have been redirecting us to Reddit in the short-term. Some of you may even be following our mod user profiles on Reddit as well. But given the hostile nature of Reddit, we're concerned that our user profiles or even the r/Saiditnet sub could be shut down, and that would leave all of us hanging.
One primary lacking area we could really use your help with is social media. We want to have a public place that you can fall back to where you can find out we're aware of outages, and get an update directly from us. We're thinking of Twitter and Gab at the moment, and only using the accounts to post updates/news/announcements when our sub here is inaccessible. Social media sites are a commitment also though, even just running one in this manner.
Anyone interested? You would still need to go through our regular mod application process to join the team: https://www.saidit.net/s/LGBDropTheT/wiki/modapplication
RECENT ANNOUNCEMENTS
s/LGB is nearly ready to be open!
We've brought on a new mod, and she's been vital in helping move things along. Please welcome her to the team, and provide your feedback on our proposals! The sooner we hear from you, the sooner we'll put them into place and re-open!
Threads on Aimee Challenor / Reddit / Pedophiles
Over the last couple of weeks, the growing scandal of Aimee Challenor, his links to paedophilia, and the complete lack of safeguarding at Reddit has been the focus of attention for many of us, some of us have been banging this drum for years, others are learning of it just now.
As a group caught up in the ban wave of 2020 and tagged as hateful because we simply reject the homophobia of gender identity and acknowledge that biological sex is the key foundation of our homosexuality and bisexuality this whole scandal sits very close to home. Particularly because Amiee and her associates more than likely played a large hand in getting us booted off the platform.
However, the multiple threads about it are crowding out the reason why this sub exists and we will now be removing most of them. Posts should be demonstrating something new and/or relevant to LGB at this point. Not clogging up the sub complaining about the same drama most of us already knew about 2 years ago.
We made the weekly Censorship Thursday thread to cover these sorts of topics, you're welcome to take it to that thread if you want to discuss it further. You can find the latest threads here.
