It's stupid in my opinion. I get that some gays/lesbians try to view it as "reclaiming the word" but it's just asinine and I think you're just better off calling yourself gay or Lesbian. That being said, I also agree with Sneeuweekhoorn where even though I think it's absolutely dumb to call yourself "queer", I think that if the person is just calling themselves that, it's fine. Just please for the love of all things, don't call the Gay community the "QUEER" community, it's just insulting because the community centers around same sex attraction.
