It’s sounds like some of the people I know with diagnosed borderline or bipolar identity disorders.

Not sure if you are already aware, but there research showing a significant overlap between Cluster B personality disorders (narcissistic and borderline especially) and transgender identification.

(Not sure if "bipolar identity disorder" is a thing though, I think it's just called bipolar disorder.)

Borderline personality disorder (BPD) gets conflated with the bipolar disorders sometimes (partly because of the similar-sounding terms).

And yes, there's a definite overlap between the Cluster B disorders and trans status; now let's see if I can find some references in my copious pile of links...

Yep, here are two:

You should be able to find the original links at the tops of those pages.

Yes. I just didn't specify the Cluster B aspect here since I feel like a broken record about it on this sub (but I imagine so do many of us), but splitting is a prominent feature of a couple of them at least. BPD most notably.

Ah. That’s good to know. Also helps me understand them better and be less affected by the sudden change.

Yeah. Just...this might be stating the obvious, but I wouldn't date any of them if I were you. Far more likely to be on the business end of the types of abuse they dish out (false accusations and smear campaigns being common) when they split someone. Be careful. I personally won't let any of them near me for any reason generally speaking. I'm not obliged to absorb or endure anyone else's problems when they are harmful to others, or risk that they will be. (Just like we are not obliged to be a sex resource for people we are not attracted to.)

If you can't extricate then that's different and you have my sympathies. I watched a sibling of a woman with BPD really struggle to deal with her, without really understanding what was going on. Their mother was equally baffled (and clearly also part of the reason her daughter had the disorder, but I digress).

(None of the above is a comment about people with some form of bipolar disorder. Never any particular issues with the ones I've known, except for one, who I think likely had comorbid NPD that was not diagnosed. Naturally she is neck-deep in TRA brainwashing all the sudden as of the last year. I won't go anywhere near the topic with her, she thinks it's gonna be her salvation late in life and now wants to cut off certain body parts. Which is shocking to me because she's always been the type to know bullshit when she sees it. Apparently, not anymore. I'm quite sure that, despite our long friendship, because I also know her so well, she'd now tear my throat out if I contradicted any of that to try to warn or help her.)

Kind of late for that. Been there. Done that. Learned my lesson 🤣

Thanks for the advice anyway it’s a good one.

Sorry for your friend. I hope she snaps out of it in time. Otherwise she will have even more issues to deal with later on. Like so many people right now. It is so frustrating and horrifying at the same time seeing people walk all over sinking sand of gender theory.

Fun "club" to be in, isn't it? /s

Sorry for your friend. I hope she snaps out of it in time.

I doubt she will. She's in her 70s. Plenty of suicidal ideations in her history. This is not going to help. It's going to reinforce that whole thought pattern and focus her even more on the idea that she's a victim. She's currently choosing to be abusive toward me so we're not talking—she does that every few years, out of the blue. And never acknowledges why we stopped talking for years, or apologizes, when we start talking again. I'm kinda done with it at this point. I was more patient when I was younger. So she's probably got nobody around her who will try to talk sense into her. But she did that to herself. I don't want to be crapped on right now. :-/

Thanks for letting me vent a bit.
