I'm a pacifist, but I think of World Wars every time I see dudes like this. "World Peace" (i.e. predominantly white countries not being at war with each other) has millions of men using estrogen and social media instead of being An Officer and A Gentleman.

Life between the end of the Cold War and the start of the War on Terror was a rare time for humanity when western civilisation was peaceful. And I say War on Terror, because it wasn’t long before there were terrorist attacks in Western Europe and mass riots in America.

I believe in peace. I want us all to live peaceful lives. But human nature gets in the way of that. And in way, it looks like we need a small amount of chaos. Because if society is too peaceful, people get bored. Good people become weaker and lazier, people get fatter, communities become atomised, children become spoilt and people lose a sense of purpose. Those are generalisations, I know, but look at the state of western civilisation. Humans need to overcome hardships in order to develop.

I don't know if it's boredom, so much as-- Humans groups tend to target smaller and/or perceived outsider groups in an effort to aggregate power. That inevitably creates conflict. That does sound like a very interesting time to live though, that in-between time.
