Old school drag doesn't offend me, or if it does, I'm OK with it because Freedom of Speech.

But I do find it hypocritical that in the US "cultural appropriation" can be grounds for firing/de-platform/ridicule, while biological appropriation is celebrated, and now even being written into law. Including legislation like the Equality Act, which will erase the legal definition of sex, with disastrous consequences for women and gay men.

On top of misappropriation of women, add misappropriation of lesbianism by everyone: straight and bisexual men are calling themselves lesbians now, a non-negligible amount of straight and bisexual women have called themselves lesbians for seX, porn, or political purposes. These days it seems like if someone you meet calls themselves a lesbian IRL, they’re not. Lesbian misappropriation has apparently always been PC.

I went to university with tons of gays in a very gay-friendly area. This was decades ago; there were few "bisexuals" among the women - by which I mean women who were experimenting with same-sex relationships, but who had a long history of heterosexual relationships, called themselves "lesbians" not "bisexual." Maybe in order to appear edgy.

When I see these women now, the vast majority are back to being heterosexual - most married with kids. Some even try to hide their "lesbian" past. So, yeah, in my experience, lesbian appropriation has been around for a long time.

That last bit plays on my mind a lot. How TF is transgender not cultual appropriation?

It's biological appropriation, IMO. Some trans activists are now claiming that they are biological women.

And in the US, we have lawmakers like Ted Lieu, Democrat of California, who are claiming sex is a spectrum in order to justify gender identity conversion bans, i.e., allowing minors to decide to transition.

It’s utter madness, and the U.K. will likely follow- councils will do their own things and Central govt will follow when Labour get in or Liz Truss is not longer women and equalise minister.

I’ve heard fellow biologists say sex is a spectrum and I just wish you could lose your degree in the same way doctors have been struck off when you clearly ignore your supposed subject of expertise.

You’re right about ‘biological appropriation’- it’s exactly that. I only call it ‘cultural appropriation’ as that’s a trigger word and imo more likely to wake the wokes up. But ‘biological’ is more accurate. ‘Cultural’ also implies the gender stereotypes we fight so hard against are out culture, which is pure rubbish.

I hope that the backlash in the UK has been strong enough that gender ideology has been shut down.

Biologist who say sex is a spectrum do need to be struck off. I have a close friend, a WOKE, 40ish, male, who had a very long learning curve on gender ideology, throw back at me that biologists are saying sex is a spectrum, so why should he believe me, a non-biologist?

Then I had to go down the path of trying to explain to him that the gender lobby has been working behind the scenes since the 1990s laying the groundwork for the madness of today by literally bribing politicians, media outlets, universities, medical schools, etc., to push gender ideology.

It sounded, even to me, outrageous - like I was pushing QAnon. But it's the truth - the gender lobby has been playing the long game for decades and we are only now waking up, but it might be too late.
