The internet was such a huge mistake. I'm looking at this kid's twitter, and every day he is spending hours on it retweeting weird shit and screeching about terfs and lesbians and cis people, and he's surrounded by other little weirdoes just like him who keep validating him.

Well, I don't know if I believe it's a mistake but the complete lack of protections and restrictions for kids regarding the internet certainly is.

Lol that is so, so weird-- what an echo chamber, and at such a young age. So glad I was never interested in tumblr/twitter when I was in my teens.

Yeah, I'm being a bit of a drama-queen LOL. The internet has so many good qualities too. Like none of us in this sub would ever communicate with each other or know that others like us exist without it.

I really wonder how it's going to be in 10, 20, 30 years. Like looking back 5, 10, 15 years ago, it's so different already, but our mind has this way of tricking us into feeling like the future won't really change so much from the status quo.

No worries, we all have those moments :) I am very grateful for this sub.

I think it'll look pretty remarkable. Especially in 5 years. We're already seeing some legal action, in the UK with Keira Bell and Allison Bailey, and in the US, Alabama just made child-transing a felony offense; there's no way we're not gonna start to see the transgender debate start to boil over soon. Objective reality's already starting to creep in, into those trans "safe spaces," lol.

Combine it with the last year of purposively restricting human interaction and it's no wonder that people are living in crazy fantasies. Online no one knows you're an awkward teenager... and you're practically expected to be on a computer most of the time, so hardly a surprise so many people go deeper and deeper into the virtual image they have of themselves. And all those around them support it since it has absolutely no bearing or reality to them anyway, like dying in a video game

Like... Where are his parents? I still think there's a good chunk of parents of today's teens who still have no idea what kind of influence the internet is having on their kids and what kind of environment their kid is spending time in every day.

Seriously. I play some cellphone games, cute ones that attract kids. And the games that don't allow any players to communicate with each other go so much more smoothly than the games that have clubs and chatrooms. In one game, I joined a chatroom and within the first 25 minutes a teenager declared herself a nonbinary lesbian and the proceeded to explain to the even younger kids what that means. And then another psycho swooped in and said she could not condone the nonbinary lesbians behavior because lesbianism is immoral and something about pedophilia. I was just like............. Wow... They still make you? I basically had to threaten all of them with reporting them for being underage and talking about sex if they didn't STFU and keep it clean. Like... This is a game about collecting cartoon cats. Can't we all just chill the fuck out?

I wonder if it’s the case that a lot of teenagers these days are spoilt brats. A teenager who has to do homework and chores, and has to help his parents out with their shop, is unlikely to be spending his free time whinging online about how hard it is for him to be a non-binary lesbian.

I really feel like a lot of these problems would solve themselves if we dumped these kids on a deserted island Survivor style. They might whinge about their gender for the first few hours, but that first night of having to sleep in the darkness outdoors, cold, alone and scared of the unknown and they'd completely forget about this bullshit. Their survival instincts would kick in and they'd put all that energy into fighting to stay alive. Or maybe I give them too much credit. They might be just as likely to curl up in a ball, shit themselves, and starve to death.

But you're right, these kids have been so far removed from real life that they want to live in fantasyland 24/7 and I do blame their parents. You can't use the internet as a babysitter and then get surprised when your kid son turns into a non-binary lesbian.

Sounds harsh, but I like this idea. Then again, these brats might whinge about how victimised they were from this experience, get coddled by their parents and ultimately never learn from this experience. You’re right, it is the parents. Most of the time. But sometimes it’s also the schools and the media. Homeschool your kids and move to a small community.

I wonder though if one of the reasons for the lockdowns is to leave the kids exposed to the internet and increase the likelihood of them becoming trans.

You're not wrong. Middle to upper middle class white kids are the ones most likely to be trans. Yeah, you might get a HSTS here or there in the POC ranks but most POC are pretty impoverished. These kids have way too much on their plate to declare themselves transbian. If one resides in a hood rife with gang violence, drug addiction, police brutality, and poverty, all one worries about is survival.

I don't think that's a fair assumption, although that may be accurate of some kids. Kids get sucked into transgender ideology mess because of peer pressure and a desire to fit in, and they are insulted, socially shunned, and shamed if they even question it. I can't emphasize enough how much internal policing goes on in Gen Z age communities about trans topics, especially in more densely-populated regions. These kids are victims of a cult-like ideology... in most cases, their parents, and for sure society, owe them an apology for not teaching them critical thinking skills and for forcing adoption of transgender ideology everywhere.

I know I might seem extreme on this but I really think it's reductive to say it's just kids being "spoiled brats" when predatory adult men, and money-hungry corporations and politicians, are driving this entire movement.
