I find it very strange that your mother would not let you be alone with your father (I'm guessing for fear of sexual abuse?) but still chose to marry (I assume) have a child with him. Disturbing...

My mom had a plan which worked: have a clone of herself, a daughter, and make the father/husband provide 100%. My dad gave my mom his paychecks every week. She gave him an allowance out of his own income. My mom worked full-time and spent her money however she pleased. She came up with this plan as a second-wave feminist (during her late teens, mind you)... her women's groups agreed to use men for their money. They were the original Female Dating Strategists.

That is abuse of both her husband and her daughter, plain and simple. I just want a little clarity. Are you saying that her abuse was on par with the actions of second-wave feminism at the time? Second-wave feminism was a political movement that accomplished a lot for women's rights, and I haven't seen anything from second-wave feminists promoting or condoning this type of abuse in the home. If that's the sort of thing they would discuss in "feminist" women's groups, they're misusing the label "feminism".

edit: If there is some writing promoting/condoning this sort of abuse that I'm not aware of, please direct me there.
