Discussion: were you a "masculine" child? Were you always butch/femme or has it evolved? by QueenOfTheNorth in Lesbians

[–]homosomes 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I was always a pretty masculine/gnc girl. I still dislike most things associated with femininity. Not because I inherently dislike things that are considered feminine, but because things considered feminine are personally uncomfortable. (Tight clothes, itchy fabrics, 500 step make up and skincare routines, doing my hair at the salon, shaving until you look like a hairless dolphin, etc.)

I did like some things aimed at girls. I had so many Barbie dolls and "girl" toys growing up. Even though I liked "boy" toys and hobbies more I always preferred playing with girls lol.

[–]homosomes 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Transman, never. Detrans, maybe. Depends on how much surgery they've done and if they still believe in gender religion. The closer they are to looking male, the more of a turnoff it is. I've known a few detransitioned women who stopped taking hormones after a short time that go back to looking pretty close to their original self.

I'd be more worried about the health consequences that years of cross-sex hormones and surgeries does to a female body.

How to deal with straight hypocrisy... by [deleted] in Lesbians

[–]homosomes 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

While homophobia is an irrational fear, transphobia often isn't.

This is because transphobia can be literally anything. Trans people keep adding and removing things to the list of what is or isn't transphobic and expect us all to keep up. Seen them flip flop so much on whether or not drag is transphobic for example.

And trying to get a straight answer from them is so hard. If they're not namecalling you for daring to ask a question, they're giving non-answers or falling back on stock phrases that they refuse to clarify. It would be so much easier to work out compromise if they would actually talk. But they don't want to talk, they want total submission. So people either give in after abuse, pay lip service to trans rhetoric to avoid cancellation, or just remove themselves from the conversation entirely.

Honestly, seeing this all unfold convinces me that a lot of straight "allies" back in the day were also performatively virtue signalling for LGB rights. I hate to think it, but it's probably true. So many of these straight people are so comfortable being woke homophobic now that it doesn't make sense if they didn't hold homophobic beliefs before.

That's probably a reference to the viral marketing campaign for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy thing coming out soon? A bunch of random identical monoliths were found in various places around the globe before suddenly disappearing. It captured the general public's attention at the tail end of 2020. A bunch of news sites were also in on the gag, reporting (untrue) stories that world governments had actually made contact with aliens and that we would be visited by the Galactic Federation soon.

TL;DR Some weird "coincidences" suggesting we finally alien contact actually turned out to be fake to create buzz for a scifi movie (or TV show?). People unfamiliar with viral marketing campaigns took it literally. (Also, 2020 was so insane that many people felt it wouldn't have been crazy if aliens actually managed to find us after the never ending craziness that was 2020.)

Bisexuals have the highest rate of mental illness among LGB, by a lot

Do you have a source for that? I read a study that between lesbians and bisexual women, bisexual women face a lot more abuse (because they partner with men who are more prone to physical abuse than women) in their relationships. But I've never heard that bi people overall suffer more from mental illness. I'd heard it's about even across the board for LGB people (not counting the T). I would like to read more about that if you have a link.

Ah, you again. My friend, I'm not saying that "sex work" does not literally fall under the definition of labor. I'm saying that the people encouraging the "sex work" are directly promoting an industry where violence, abuse, sex trafficking, and literal slavery is the norm. It does not take a genius to understand statistics of why 9 in 10 sex workers surveyed want out. But there is so much propaganda pushed by pimps and madams that people just swallow the happy hooker fantasy wholesale. And people want to whitewash what really happens and silence those who've exited sex work exposing the realities. I really wish people uncritically shouting "just let people do sex work!" would use their brains.

Why does anyone get into sex work? They were coerced, they were groomed, they were trafficked, they were desperate and had no other source of income. I don't think anyone, trans or not, should have to be in such a degrading and dangerous line of work. If people really care about someone who is straining for money, the solution is to help them not put your genitals in their face.

[–]homosomes 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I disagree with this phrasing, simply because there are very few gender-crit radfems, and in terms of organized ramfem movements, there is very little WOC representation.

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you after posting this comment because I frankly don't have the energy and don't think you're arguing in good faith, but this line right here shows that you do not seem to understand that radical feminists are by nature gender critical. Also, WOC are a minority in Anglophone radfem spaces. But that does not mean that radical feminism is unknown to WOC. South Korea is a prime example. Their radical feminist movement is huge. The radfem movement throughout Latin America is also growing. In fact, outside of the western world the aims of feminists throughout the world are more akin to radical feminism (fighting sex-based oppression of females) than any other.

I don't believe the term "white feminism" is useful. Can white women be racist? Yes. Does that mean white women are exempt from experiencing sexism? No. As a WOC it's annoying to see people claim that feminists like the Nigerian Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie are "white feminists" simply because they do not believe in gender, or because they see how self-ID can easily be exploited. That tells you how the concept of "white feminism" is just used to shut women up.

Guessing from your name and recent post history that you're a trans person trying to convince us here to change positions. I will save you some time: it's probably not going to happen. We've been abused, gaslit, and harassed by the trans community for too long.

[–]homosomes 22 insightful - 1 fun22 insightful - 0 fun23 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've literally never seen radical feminists say anything like that. Most radfems have issues (white and otherwise) take issue with people using the word "white" to get away with being sexist because there's a trend of it being socially acceptable in leftist/liberal circles to hate on women as long as you throw "white" in front of it. There are so many popular tweets floating around by men talking about how much they want to beat up or kill (white) women and everyone cheers like it's progressive. Contrary to popular belief, a lot of nonwhite radfems and gender critical women of color have commented on this trend. Like how it's usually done by hypocritical men and liberal feminists who have no problem being racist or abusive towards minority women that don't believe in TRA rhetoric.

I have certain critiques of radfems and their beliefs too, but making stuff up about what they believe in because you dislike them is dumb. Of all the modern feminist subgroups radical feminists tend listen to and defend lesbians the most in my experience. (At least the radfems who don't beleive in political lesbianism do. But that is a rant for another day....)

I mean the stats don’t lie. Ask them why so many trans murders aren’t marked as hate crimes. Most of them are from fellow trans.

Really? I was under the impression that most of the murders of trans people keep citing as proof of the trans "murder epidemic" are based on the information we have on Brazilian transsexuals, who are usually involved in prostitution where they're killed by johns and pimps?

By no means am I saying it's okay that trans people are being murdered. But people who go hard on uncritically shouting "sex work is work!" (a lot of whom are trans people that will never have to see that horror) tend to ignore how dangerous and deadly prostitution is.

This sub has stalkers on reddit that have gone after any space or page that we discuss. The fact that the subreddit you made technically includes homosexual men and therefore isn't lesbian only might buy some time. They're on that sub that's overrun with transbians and trans memes but still think it's "cis centric?" The mods, who are mostly males who identify as trans, literally remove posts and comments made by actual lesbians all the time and it's still not enough coddling?

Here's the truth that no one wants to say: you will never be satisfied because your fantasy does not match reality. You're better off just accepting that you are male, that lesbians are not interested in males, and make peace with that fact.

Doesn't Tamsyn Muir also market herself as a lesbian author and talk all about how she's a lesbian in interviews all the time? She has a lot of nerve to do that while being happily married to a man.

You can try but it probably won't go very far. Most legitimate news sources that would otherwise be on our side would likely just ignore you because all the focus right now is on validating trans delusions to look woke.

More LGB Specific Subs Banned On Reddit! by SedateApe in LGBDropTheT

I know. The problem is that according to Reddit's own rules, once a sub is banned no other sub that serves the same purpose can exist. Doesn't matter if it's old or new, Reddit considers it ban evasion.

Sounds like those two would be considered ban evasion subs anyway. Reddit won't allow any subs that replace the function of a banned sub. That's why they were so quick to axe r/BiologicalLesbians. When r/TrueLesbians was banned it effectively meant that no other sub for females only attracted to other females (lesbians) can ever exist again.

Now, people who can't separate porn from reality are the actual problem. Those guys have issues they need to work on.

... yeah, I know a few guys on that sub who have many issues that need working on.

Anyone here experience sex dysphoria? by BiHorror in LGBDropTheT

Yes. I think it's actually pretty common among homosexuals to feel sex dysphoria, which is why we see a lot of lesbians identifying as trans. Most of my dysphoria stems from the fact that I'm a lesbian.

Lesbians facing 'extinction' as transgenderism becomes pervasive, campaigners warn by homosomes in LGBDropTheT

Lesbian are facing “extinction” because of the “disproportionate” focus on transgenderism in schools, a controversial campaign group for gay rights has claimed.

The LGB Alliance, which has been branded a “trans hate group” by Pink News and other vocal critics, was set up in October 2019 amid concerns that Stonewall, the UK’s leading gay rights charity, had become too fixated on gender identity.

Its founders, Kate Harris and Bev Jackson, claim to have been “cancelled” for questioning gender identity theory and airing their concerns about the erosion of women’s rights in the face of the transgender movement.

Their detractors claim their refusal to include the 'T' in their LGB Alliance is transphobic along with their insistence that “sex is binary, not a spectrum” and “gender is a social construct”. They have also been accused of a “sinister” campaign of “abuse” on Twitter.

On Wednesday, Ofcom chief Melanie Dawes said it would be “entirely inappropriate” for the BBC to approach groups like the LGB Alliance to “balance” debates around trans issues after SNP MP John Nicolson, a homosexual, described them as “transphobic”.

Thousands of people signed a recent petition calling on broadcasters not to “uncritically platform” the group or its supporters.

While admitting they do not want to see further reform of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA), which requires a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria for legal recognition as the opposite gender, Ms Harris and Ms Jackson insist they want to be able to discuss “all rights” without being “silenced by the Twitter mob”.

“If you do not accept that everyone has a gender identity then you are automatically labelled transphobic which means you can no longer discuss women’s lives and what’s happening to lesbians,” said Ms Jackson. “We are increasingly discovering that lesbians are no longer welcome in the LGBTQ+ world, which is astonishing.”

Recent months have witnessed significant clashes between transgender rights activists and lesbians holding up signs saying: “Lesbians don’t have penises” and “Woman = adult human female”.

In June, Harry Potter author JK Rowling was branded “cruel” and “anti trans” after tweeted criticism of the phrase "people who menstruate" and stated: "If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives."

She has been referred to as a trans-exclusionary radical feminist (TERF) on multiple occasions, though she rejects the label.

Orwell Prize winning journalist Suzanne Moore left the Guardian in November after facing criticism for writing “about female experience belonging to people with female bodies”, following the publication of a piece in March headlined: "Women must have the right to organise. We will not be silenced".

Alison Bailey, a lesbian criminal barrister who helped to set up the LGB Alliance, is currently suing Stonewall, claiming it collaborated with her chambers to put her under investigation.

“Lesbians don’t have penises,” said Ms Jackson. “A lesbian is a biological woman who is attracted to another biological woman. That’s obvious. Or at least it was obvious until a few years ago.”

The LGB Alliance’s mission statement refers to clinicians concerned about a culture of “transing out the gay” at the Tavistock Clinic in London, which specialises in offering gender identity development services (GIDS).

Ms Harris said: “We are both convinced, had we been growing up now, that we would have transitioned.”
