I just... Is it just me, or is it insanely creepy to change your appearance to the point there is almost no trace of, well, yourself left?

I just don't understand how they can deal with such a huge change. Isn't it disturbing? How do you not go mad? Aaaah, body modifications creep me out in general but this is on a whole another level. Tell me again how this is supposed to alleviate issues with identity. When there is such a distinction between "I am" and "I was", so much that the past stops being "I" even. How do they call it, a "dead name"? A dead self. How does this help identity issues??!

Sometimes people change themselves so they don't resemble their parents if they have deep rooted issues with them. Sometimes they also suffered with some type of sexual abuse and change themselves to run away from that memory or they are just obsessive and addicted to body modification. It is really weird and to me it is harmful to normalize this behavior.

It is really weird and to me it is harmful to normalize this behavior.

To be fair, it is a pretty understandable reaction to trauma-- but it's not a healthy one, which is one of the fundamental issues with transgender ideology. It goes against decades of research to suggest that destroying and erasing your "old self" is healthy for you and that addressing your issues head-on is unhealthy... this is just hiding and exacerbating mental illness.

Yeah it is understandable 100% but as you said, it isn't healthy which is why I wish it wasn't normalized/encouraged, so yea ig i didn't make myself clear in my previous comment as to why I find it problematic

Oh, btw, i see some of your comments from time to time and u seem like a very reasonable person! I love reading your takes so thank you for sharing them here :)
