Reminds me somewhat of being with a person with BPD: The mask of normal, mature behavior eventually falls off after a while in a relationship, and then you discover you are dealing with a different person. You grieve for the person you lost, the person they wanted you to think they were, and yet they are not truly gone; you still have to look at them, standing right there in front of you like a ghost.

Leaving is the sane response.
