So can we use the term "trans identified" here? I thought I saw automod scolding people for using the acronymed version...

I asked for an explanation of that once, and the answer I was given was basically: Mods are convinced that the acronym is "radfem slang" and is thus blocked because it's "hateful," yet the typed out version is fine. But also they're fine with people self-identifying as TERF, TEHM, "gender critical", febfem - all of which are HEAVILY radfem coded words. And they allow constant radfem propaganda on this sub, such as people linking to Ovarit as a source.

I 100% agree with the mods believing that they don't want to associate with radfems. I don't want this to be GenderCritical 2.0 especially since they have their own fuckin' Reddit clone now. But it's bizarre that something minor and not really radfem coded like the trans identified male/female acronym gets blocked, but all those other terms & links to verrrrry extremist radfem views are not.

It's also a pain in the fucking ass to talk about trans people because I don't like using FTM/MTF because that implies that they have indeed "changed sex." I can't say any of the "mean" words (even as a joke) and I can't use the acronym, but I also often can't be bothered to type out "trans identified males/females" every single time, especially if it's a long post/comment and I'm hitting the character cap.

Agree. Only thing I'd add to that is-- I think part of the reason why those acronyms got thrown in the "slur" category is that sometimes people would make names out of them to call trans people, e.g. "T-i-f-f-a-n-y" (not sure if this'll get censored lol).

Perhaps worth trying to lobby to mods about, I feel like a lot of people here would agree that terms like MTF and MTF are far more deceptive and harmful than acronyms for trans-identified male and trans-identified female.

I really don't like the fact that they have banned those terms. It teeters on the edge of over-moderation, or is just plain unhelpful moderation.
